Nebraska 23 – Michigan 9

The revenge tour is complete as Nebraska knocks off Michigan 23-9.

Nebraska takes the over the top spot in the Legends division of the Big 10 with 14 point win over Michigan in Lincoln.

The Husker defense was in the house knocking Michigan’s top threat out of the game late in the 2nd quarter with an elbow injury. But a turnover moments later by Nebraska QB Taylor Martinez almost did the same for the Huskers as his knee & ankle were twisted up under him as he fumbled the ball at midfield.

In the third quarter the Husker defense was in search of their Blackshirts and put the hurt on the Michigan offense and freshman QB Russel Bellomy.

Brett Maher field goals, including a 51 yarder, steadily increased the lead by Nebraska until a 12 yard touchdown run by Ameer Abdullah put the Huskers in the driver’s seat with 23-9 lead.

The Nebraska defense opted to play containment on what would be Michigan’s final drive. A drive that ended with a Stanley Jean-Baptiste interception in the end zone.

Nebraska is on the road next week in Lansing against Michigan State. The Spartans will be coming off a come-from-behind win in overtime today at Wisconsin.

The Nebraska defense held Michigan to 183 yards of total offense. A number heavily impacted by Michigan’s loss of Denard Robinson who left the game with 55 pass yards and 46 rush yards at the time of his injury.
