Our Twitter feed bonked with 5 minutes to go in the 4th. My apologies to those who were following @huskerzone.
Solid performance today. A little iffy with putting the ball on the ground, but penalties were down and the offense played soundly.
Here’s to bowl eligibility!

I think Helu showed why he should be the starter. The D played pretty good today, but the big play still bites us every week.
This team is a much improved team from last year. They came back from a trip to Norman when they could have have cashed it in. The defense playe well but our secondary needs some help. especially at saftey but they played hard all day and the offense has gotten better each game and except for a 35 point first quarter against OU this team has responded to each momentum swing with a swing of its own. The first factor is the players deal with theses situations much better after having been down the row the hoed last year. Second this coaching staff is getting these kids to play above their talent level in all but two games this year and Ou was a 1st quarter that just was and against mizzou we just got way above what the kids could do at the time defensively and we had no id offensivelly. We are bowling again and if this staff keeps these kids going day by day game to game we could be 8-4 and headed 2 an all right bowl game. I would take that in a heart beat. This team is going in the right direction and with the players coming in and the redshirts who have been in the system this year the future looks much better than it did a just a bit ago. we got recruit 16 Earnest Robinson from Euless Texas, cousin to Husker recruit Dontrayevous Robinson, He goes 5’11″ and 220 has 4.58 speed he looks like he will be a redshirt to get him some polish as he looks good on tape but looks like he needs. more strength to play a D1 level.
Here are my what ifs for this season. What if this team had this offensive tempo from game one.
What if this team was plus in turnovers to this point.
What if the front four would have generated a pass rush like saturday consistently.
What if Roy Helu was given the bulk of the carries all season.
what if this team didn’t shut down itself with costly penalties.
What if our safties played there assignments marginaly well.
ANd the recruit was Earnest Norman in my previous post all appologies to whomever reads this anymore
First of all, I would like to state that I enjoy reading what you guys have to say about Husker Football. You are all very knowledgeable and don’t sugar coat too much. The one point that I would like to here from you, is why Roy Helu is not our starting I-back. He is hands down on another level than Lucky is, and not starting him for the rest of the season would be a crime.
I can only speculate on Helu. Outside of conspiracy theories, it must be a practice issue. Lucky and Castille must be infinitely better practice players to continue getting the first looks on Saturday.
I can’t imagine Pelini is playing any politics with his starters – alluding to rumors that Lucky was going to declare for the draft last year, but Pelini guaranteed him the starting spot in exchange for him staying so the offense had some continuity.
Frankly, if that was the case, Lucky has likely dropped his draft spot with the way he’s played this year.
My other thought is that Helu is simply the weaker of the 3 with his receiving skills. The offense is still pass-heavy and perhaps Watson prefers the better hands in the game.
If this is a transition year in the offense, I can see that point, but then one must wonder when/if the commitment to the run becomes part of the game plan.
Some of the play calling on run plays is just downright loony…options to the short side when the D is playing strong on the weak side. The line stunting right or left and the rush play going opposite side with no blocking support, etc.
