New Mexico State cornerback Davon House talks a lot, but he doesn’t know much about the team he will face Saturday in Lincoln.
According to Omaha World Herald, House talked smack on Monday, saying the Aggies’ receivers “are like 10 times better than their receivers.”
Nebraska seniors Nate Swift and Todd Peterson declined to fire back. Peterson said opponents can say what they want to say.
“Obviously, I don’t like to hear that and I don’t appreciate that, but I’m not going to go out there and say something that they can go back and put on their billboard,” Peterson said.
Swift has caught 11 passes in two games this fall, staying on pace to break Johnny Rodgers’ career record of 143 receptions this fall. Swift is at 114 going in to Saturday’s game.
Peterson, who has seven catches for 93 yards, is closing in on 1,000 yards for his career and is positioned to end up among the school’s top 10 in receptions and touchdowns.
“Not only are they catching the ball and running good routes, but they’re blocking on the perimeter extremely well,” coach Bo Pelini said. “I can think of very few times the first two games _ only one instance _ where we missed a block on the perimeter that hurt us.”
