I have to agree with RD. This defense is totally differant. Everyone flew to the ball and the confidence level was extremely high. Everyone seems to have bought in on D and it showed. Cant wait till the season starts! Bo Big Red!

It was hard to see much because of the way the teams were divided; but I did notice one thing....

With Callahan, college football was a business; and the kids were his workers.

With Pelini, college football is a game; and these kids are football players.

I really enjoyed the enthusiasm that was displayed by the players. With fun, there will be confidence. With confidence, there will be winning. Go BIG RED!

Defensively anything would be an improvement over last year and what I saw on Saturday wasn't a defensive team that simply improved, it was one that has completely transformed. Gang tackling, pocket pressure, maintaining assignments, it was all very encouraging.

On offense it was fairly vanilla but that's to be expected I would think. The staff and the team had only what, like fourteen practices together prior to spring game? So they started with the basics and I though executed well for the most part, a few more dropped balls than you'd like, but I imagine that will improve. The O line looks solid, and very deep, the backs looked pretty impressive and Ganz ran the O nicely. There was some confusion on offense occasionally but with the with the personnel and package changes being made so regularly it's not surprising I guess. But when the starters (or who looks like are going to be the starters I should say) were kept in and allowed to develop a little rhythm I thought they did really well.

Overall I really liked what I saw. One last comment; thank you Coach Osborne. The allumni activities in the days prior to the spring game, two hundred plus former players on the field on Saturday, the completion of the 'Letterman's Wall' in the tunnel walk, all of it. Simply awesome. Is there anyway we can skip summer and head into fall, say next weekend?

Well that sounds good, Count. I just really would have liked to see a little more offense. I thought Kody Spano looked pretty good for only being on campus for 3 months.

I thought it was the most entertaining spring game in years. Yeah the 1s didn't have big play after big play going against the 5s but what does that prove? About the dead kickoffs. If you watch the Bo Pelini show it sounds as if he won't do that again. He said he'd rather have live kickoffs in the future.

Aaron I totally agree about the defense. I would have liked to see some Niles Paul deep, or some screens to Lucky, but overall I am still just as excited to see this team next year.

its about what i expected. the journal star quoted pelini and/or watson saying that things were going to be pretty basic or "vanilla" as it was referred to. i was disappointed by the decision in regards to special teams. not sure if that decision was made to protect players or what, but i would think live special teams would give you a better picture of where their at, but i could be wrong. there were some positives to take away from the game, there are signs of emerging playmakers on offense. The defense was able to cause some turnovers and had some hard hits out there. fundamentally the defense looks better now than midseason last year. if today were a fall gameday im sure they would get beat but that could be said for pretty much every team in 1a.

one last thing that was promising...there were many times when multiple defenders were where the ball was, its nice to see that pursuit to get to the ball
