Lincoln Journal Star has a harrowing, but touching, piece on Rickey Thenarse.
Thenarse, a junior safety, is from the Watts area of Los Angeles. Those mean streets recently took not one, but two, of his brothers.
“You could look at it negative, but I just look at it positive. They lived a pretty rough life. I just look at it as they just escaped it,” Thenarse says. “They’re just resting in peace now. I just want to carry on the dream, hope to make the NFL and finish out my career. That’s what they wanted me to do.”
I hope he makes it to the NFL. Big time.

When Rickey T was asked about the next coaches of NU after Billy C was fired his response was ” I don’t know, but they damn sure better play me!”
Yeah, Rickey, they better. The thing that worries me a little is the anger that Rickey plays with, is it the same anger that will seek revenge? I hope not, but street justice is different from real justice. Rickey has way too much to lose and he could change the course of his family’s life forever.
Good Luck Rickey Thenarse, you are my favorite Husker!!
On a side not, Rickey did dedicate this season to his two brothers. I felt sorry for whoever came across the middle, but I REALLY feel sorry for them now!
