Nebraska v. Mizzou….Got One In The Win Column!
On Monday, Missouri coach Mike Anderson suspended five players for a weekend brawl at a bar that broke starting point guard and leading scorer Stefhon Hannah’s jaw ultimately ending his season. Three of those players are starters who help contribute to the Tigers relentless full court pressure D. I am going out on a limb here and predicting an NU win. If they do not win this game, then there are major problems with this program.
Well, after tape delay, the game finally started at 8:30 CST and it looked like NU was going to jump quickly on a depleted MU squad. Nebraska jumped out to leads of 9-3 and 15-8 only to have the Tigers, who were relentless all night, get right back in it at 15-14. The Huskers went on a run and led 21-14, but again, Mizzou closed the gap to two going into the half only down 32-30.
The second half started alot like the first half ended with NU going up and the Tigers clawing their way back. Sek Henry scored 12 points in the first half but could only muster 2 in the second. With the score bouncing back and forth, Steve Harley and Ade Dagunduro stepped up for the Huskers. Ade had a key put-back off a Sek Henry miss and Harley just kept driving and shooting in the soft spots of Missouri’s zone, ultimately helping NU to it’s first conference win of the 2007-08 season, 66-62.
Harley led four Huskers in double digits with 15 followed by 14 from Sek. Alecs Maric and Ryan Anderson both had double doubles, Maric with 13 points and 13 boards and Anderson with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Huskers played well enough against a depleted Mizzou team, but that’s what they are supposed to do. I have to give credit to the Tigers. They came out swinging and had this “not in my house” attitude all night, but with only 7 players getting in, fatigue had to have played a factor when some players played more minutes tonight than they have combined all season. Up next for the Huskers is Iowa St this Saturday for a 3 P.M. tipoff.
One down……and only nine more to go!!!!

Anybody know what time and channel this game is on?
January 30th, 2008 at 2:16 pm
7 and I think maybe FSN
January 30th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
Here’s the rub. ESPN picked up the game as part of it’s full court package. FSN now has to show the game on Tape Delay basis because of The Big XII’s contract with ESPN. So if you want to watch the game for free you have to wait until 8:30 and watch it on a tape delay basis.
Which opens up another problem. The game will still be going on. So you have to make a decision. Do you listen to it and find out who won? Or do you wait and watch it? One thing that might help you make your decision according to the fine folks at HHC the broadcast is the Missouri feed.

What a bunch a BS!!! Its blacked out on my Fox station. So I got to hear the last 2 minutes on the radio.

Well since I don’t have anything else to do since the freak’n game is over for me already, I thought I would inform you all of this. The Spring game will not be at night, it would conflict with the NU baseball game, Bo want’s to make it a sell out, and you should get your tickets next week, all the good seats are reserved this year……don’t know why, but here is the link.

Nebraska 66 Missouri 62. Nebraska won Creighton lost. The Count is very happy.
2 things. Officials tried to make up for the suspended players.
And really classy of Missou fan to boo an injured player off the court.

Saturday’s game against Texas Tech looks really good now…

LUBBOCK, Texas — Texas Tech coach Bob Knight, the all-time winningest Division I men’s basketball coach, resigned Monday, a spokesman for athletic director Gerald Myers said.
Bob Knight acknowledges the crowd after getting his record 880th win last season.
The program will be turned over to his son, Pat Knight, who was named head coach-designate in 2005.
Knight’s resignation was first reported by the Lubbock Avalanche-Journal. Chris Cook, a spokesman for Myers, confirmed the resignation.
“Coach Knight has had a great career. His coaching record speaks for itself. His love for basketball is clear, but most importantly his love for teaching and the students has been a hallmark of his tenure here at Texas Tech,” said Sally Logue Post, a spokeswoman for Texas Tech.
Knight has 902 career wins, more than any coach in the history of Division I men’s basketball. Win No. 900 came last month against Texas A&M.
