According to Sean Callahan of HuskersIllustrated.com, an unconfirmed rumor has circulated on Orangebloods.com about who the next Strength and Conditioning coach will be at Nebraska. James Dobson will be hired away from Iowa where he currently is an assistant S&C coach.
Anything is considered an upgrade from someone who makes 330 pound lineman run 5 miles for conditioning, but I was holding out hope, beings we are dippin’ in the past success category, that Boyd Eppley would take the reins one more time. From what I have read on this guy, he does sound like a good choice. I am pleased with the youth movement on this staff and am excited to finally see them in action.

I was hoping to see Brian Bailey’s name in the Huskerpower search, maybe he doesn’t want to leave SoCal. I hope the new hire brings a program that allows are OL and DL’s to dominate as they did in the past. What is that old saying “Football games are won and lost in the trenches” we have lost alot of games in the trenches and from what I saw we were weak at the point of attack and for the most part we were pushed around, If we need a yard or two I want to feel confident that my O-line can give me a 3-6 foot surge. We can’t have our D-line parted like the Red Sea either. Maybe old steriod Boyd should run the show again he sure as hell looked like he could when he ran on the field this year.

Our family is about to become big Husker fans - our son-in-law, James Dobson, is going to be your new Strenght and Conditioning Coach. Iowa’s loss is Nebraska’s gain - if your football players have the heart, will and desire to get the most out of their god-given talent, then James will bring it out. He is a tireless worker, motivated, and innovative. We all know that Nebraska is the birthplace of S&C in college football - James will bring it back to the Husker nation if the players will buy-in, because he is going to work them. At Iowa they had a saying in the workout room “Hard word beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard.” Iowa never was able to recruit the frontline talent in the Big Ten, but Iowa has always played hard and physical beating or being competitive with teams with more talent - Bob Sanders, Dallas Clark, Aaron Kampman, Robert Gallery, Matt Roth, Chad Greenway are all players that James worked with before the NFL. Give James a chance - I think you will like what you see! And, our family will look forward to Nebraska returning to it’s spot in the college football elite with this new staff.

Thanks so much for posting and we, as Huskers, welcome you into the fold. Can you tell us a little about James? From everything I have read about him I really am excited to see what he can do.
Thanks again Marc!

Welcome new Husker fans!!!! Thank’s for the info Marc, That’s good stuff. Sounds like the players might have a little shock coming to them, compared to what they are used to when it comes to conditioning.
