Football Is War and War Runs on Loyalty
Bo Pelini on coaching in tonight’s national championship game:
I never really gave it a second thought. Coach Miles never gave it a second thought. And obviously I had the support of Coach Osborne up in Nebraska,” Pelini says. “We’ve been through too much together, the whole team. I’m committed to them and we’re committed to getting this thing finished and doing it the right way. It would have felt like unfinished business. There was no way I wanted to walk away from these guys and I know these guys wouldn’t want it any other way either.”
Nebraska’s players and fans have to admire this kind of loyalty. A loyalty that will be all ours at this time tomorrow.

MAN I CAN’T WAIT. I really can’t wait to see how our players will respond to this staff. I am anxious to see the REBIRTH of the Blackshirts, especially Ricky Thenarse. I look for him and Assante to have a HUGE year. Well, it couldn’t get any worse really.

Maybe you heard already, Along with Bo being back tomorrow, we will also have our new running backs coach, Tim Beck from Kansas. He is their wide receivers coach, but this guy has a ton of coaching jobs and it sounds like his recruiting connections in Texas, Arizona and Florida are outstanding.

Any body have any insight into the strngth staff, and who will be in charge of husker power. I myself am chompin at the bit and can’t wait to see what good coaching can do for these guys. Its all coming together men.

I wonder how many people in this state will be wearing purple tonight?
I’d have to agree with you Brad. I remember when Callahan was announced as the head coach there was kind of a sense of gaurded optimism - afterall we were coming off a 9-3 year - but no real yee haw here we god*&&%$*mned go enthusiasm, nothing like the feeling I am starting to get now. Getting back to smash f*&%ing mouth defense. Having teams - regardless of who they are - terrified to come to Lincoln. Beating the s*%#t out of anyone dumb enough to line up accross from us. OUR kind of football!!
GO BIG RED!!!
and for tonight only, GO TIGERS. (Beisdes I seriously hate Kirk Herbstreit and the Ohio f*&%ing State)
Sorry ’bout the language admin., couldn’t be helped.

Ha Ha! That’s great, did you hear the announcer say that Ohio State was walking right into Bo Pelini Land!!!!
I’m thinking for one year we re-name Memorial Stadium. “Welcome To Bo Pelini Land”
January 7th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
I’LL TAKE THAT DEFENSE! Sorry Ed, we hired the best of the best.
January 7th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
The only reason ohio state HAD the number one ranked defense is because they play in the weak-ass big ten. Clearly, the best defense on the field tonight, probably in the country, was coached by Husker head coach Bo Pellini.
GO BIG REDDD!!!!!!!

Did anyone else catch the huge plug Charles Davis gave Nebraska towards the end of the game when Bo got the Gatorade?
January 7th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
Yes I did. He said something like what a coach NU is getting..and if you wanna play some defense go play for him….didn’t he?
January 7th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Yea, then at the very end of the broadcast they said “Well it look’s to me that Ohio St got out coached tonight………….on the defensive side anyway!”
Nice!
January 8th, 2008 at 6:59 am
They also said “take that back to Lincoln with you” when he was showered with gatorade.

Final rankings. 4 of the top 10 teams are from the Big 12. I don’t care what anyone says, thats the strongest conference in the country. Next year we are the Big 12 Champions!!!
We can hope anyway.
GO HUSKERS!!!

@ cornfed
I don’t know, if I had to answer purely objectively I’d say the SEC is a tougher conference. The SEC’s bowl record is slightly better 361-184 compared to the Big 12’s 312-149. Their bowl record this year was 7-2, ours was 5-3. The SEC has a slight advantage over us in head to head match-ups 17-15. I guess it could be argued that the SEC’s bowl record might not be as good if it weren’t for the fact that nearly every bowl game is played in the SEC’s back yard. If those schools had to travel to Ann Arbor, Lincoln or anywhere else here in the frozen north in January to play bowl games would the results be any different? Probably, but who knows. I still think though that as it stands now the SEC is a tougher conference, hopefully that all is about to change.
GO BIG RED!!

@Cornfed
the SEC has had the BCS champs the last two years and top to bottom they are the best conference in America the last 7 years. the top of the big 12 is sound, now with Bo reenergizing my huskers we might get six ranked teams with Colorado being seven next year with A&M somewhere in that mix. That is a debate for tomorrow, as of the last seven years top to bottom the best conference is the SEC. the big 12 had a good top set of teams but the rest of the conference did not hold its own. If the middle tier of the big 12 teams like OSU, KSU, A&M, ISU, push toward the top we can make a vaild argument about big twelve strength. Hell our confernce champ OU got smoked in the auto BCS game. We have got to win those to have any kind of argument, because the ring is really where the power lies Frodo.

@ RD and REDTILLDEAD
Ok, maybe I jumped the gun alittle on that comment. I just don’t like the SEC. Excellent points by both of you though. Maybe I will just have to settle for second place. Thanks for setting me straight.
GO HUSKERS!!!
January 9th, 2008 at 1:32 pm
@ Cornfed,
I think it is a very big step in the right direction though, to see 8 out of the 12 school’s in bowl games and to have 4 finish in the top 10. I think it would be nice for MU and KU to keep on pace. When NU and CU get back on track the South may not be so happy about coming up here and playing anymore.
January 9th, 2008 at 1:33 pm
Is Frodo our new Strength coach?
January 9th, 2008 at 2:04 pm
Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like the SEC any better than you - although they seem to have some of the hottest girls for some reason. NU will take it’s rightful place at the top of this conference, and as the dizzturbed one points out assuming Mizzu and Kansas continue to play at this level we will level the playing field with the SEC. I have never (eill never) consider the delinquents from CU an upper tier team in this conference or any other, sorry dizz.
January 9th, 2008 at 2:11 pm
No need to be sorry RD, I totally agree with you. As of right now the SEC is the best. I wish we could have seen Georgia play a worthy team. I also agree with you on CU, I’m just saying that when they are on top of their game they will give the Texas’s and Oklahoma’s of this world a run for their money.
January 9th, 2008 at 5:20 pm
No doubt CU can be problematic for any team. I think that may be half of their problem though; they get up for and play well against one or two teams a season - usually NU and Texas - and then half ass it the rest of the year.
You’re right the Georgia game was a travesty. Hawaii was a great story and all but NO WAY should they have gotten a BCS bid. Despite the very cool ‘warrior dance’ prior to kick off they had no business in that game, and they proved it.
