This our report card according to espn.com:
The process: The Cornhuskers won’t be rebuilt overnight, after they suffered through one of the worst seasons in school history under former coach Bill Callahan. The Cornhuskers went 27-22 in Callahan’s four seasons, two of which ended in losing records, which previously hadn’t occurred at Nebraska since 1962. With the Cornhuskers’ struggling like never before, athletic director Steve Pederson — who hired Callahan and gave him a contract extension before the 2007 season — was fired in midseason. Former football coach Tom Osborne, who built the Cornhuskers into one of the sport’s greatest powers, was hired as interim athletic director. Osborne’s task was to evaluate the football program and decide Callahan’s future. Callahan was fired the day after Nebraska lost to Colorado 65-51 to finish the season at 5-7. Osborne interviewed LSU defensive coordinator Bo Pelini in Baton Rouge, La., the following day. Buffalo coach Turner Gill, a former Cornhuskers quarterback and assistant coach, also was interviewed. Osborne also spoke with Wake Forest coach Jim Grobe about the vacancy. The search was quickly narrowed to Pelini and Gill.
Grade: BThe hire: Pelini has the characteristics Osborne wanted in Nebraska’s next coach: he has a background in defense and understands the culture and expectations at Nebraska. Pelini worked one season as the Cornhuskers’ defensive coordinator under Frank Solich and was the team’s interim coach in the 2003 Alamo Bowl. He worked the last four years as LSU’s defensive coordinator and helped lead the Tigers to the Jan. 7 BCS National Championship Game.
Grade: CFinal analysis: Osborne might have worried too much about hiring a coach with Nebraska ties. A program like Nebraska should have been able to lure a proven head coach.
Overall grade: C+
I don’t necessarily disagree with the report card. I just hope espn and I are wrong.

ESPN is a joke when it comes to talking about Nebraska football. As we have seen in the past they also like to report rumors as fact. I disagree with the report card. The old season isn’t even over yet and we are doing more rip’n on this new staff then we are supporting it. I think we should at least wait until a game is played before we start handing out report card’s to people.
December 18th, 2007 at 9:11 pm
By the way ESPN, Bo wasn’t at LSU the last 4 years. Is ESPN sure they aren’t owned by fox news?
December 18th, 2007 at 9:23 pm
Don’t go there Brad…
December 18th, 2007 at 9:30 pm
Ed, do you work for Fox News? I’m not an order taker.
December 18th, 2007 at 11:26 pm
Which ‘proven winner’ exactly were we supposed to ‘lure’ here? Red’s right. ESPN can’t be taken too seriously when reporting on NU football. For whatever reason they seem to enjoy pointing out all that is wrong with, or what they hope will go wrong with our program. Screw em. On the other hand though, at least they don’t claim to be fair and balanced.
December 19th, 2007 at 6:31 am
ESPN…ABC…all support the same teams every year regardless of the teams ability…if it isnt a team out of Florida, California, or Ohio it kills them to even discuss the team. As for Pelini give the guy a chance before you down grade him. Stoops did great while Pelini was was at OU then dropped back a bit shortly after he left…coincidence…I think not…I would be willing to bet the same happens to LSU.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:40 am
@Husker_V
How long was Pellini at OU a year?
December 19th, 2007 at 11:21 am
@Huskerbrad
Hey man I need a side of fries when you get done blogging. (Ha ha ha ha)
As rainman would say “fox sports sucks, ya fox sports sucks.” Seriously when their expert analyst is some guy named Bobby babino whose only claim to football knowledge is competing in the Dr. Pepper halftime challange, I guess i’ll look for my own info, besides the fact they are a national product they get a D, it would have been an F but, I am a sucker for Tuesday Midafternoon fights at a local 4h center.
Espn can grade what they want, it is all experts doin what we all do sittin by the water cooler and expertly analyzing every aspect of the game we love and wish we could still play. It is just opinion, and mine is this Back to back to back to back National championships for the Huskers Rifle squad and a winning season for my Huskers. So I give ESPN an A for effort, because it gave us something to sound off about and A Q (for Questionable) for Actuall Knowledge of what is really going on.
Even when we played Florida for a 2nd title I heard all the Espn commentators talk about the Florida speed and we wouldn’t be able to keep up. Ya really only the statistician had issues with keeping up. So I’ll trake that C and C you all at a Bowl part next season

Hukser Brad Says:
By the way ESPN, Bo wasn’t at LSU the last 4 years. Is ESPN sure they aren’t owned by fox news?
Naw if ESPN was owned by Fox News this would have said “some people say Nebraska hired Turner Gill”
December 19th, 2007 at 1:58 pm
Since I am not a psychic I am going to wait a few years before I grade the hire. If Bo’s a C- coach he’s still a grade and a half better than the last coach.
December 19th, 2007 at 2:50 pm
Bo may turn out to be a great coach. Then again he may wash out after 4 years. I’m with Count on grading him as a coach. But I still feel Nebraska settled on the “Popular Choice” instead of bringing in a proven winner. And RD, there are plenty of proven winners that would want to take the Nebraska job. Osborne had his mind made up before interviews even began. I hope his choice is better than his last one.
Can we please leave Fox News out of this discussion. It really makes your arguement sound like a personal attack, and I’m sure you did not intend it that way.
December 19th, 2007 at 3:53 pm
I hope his choice is better that his last one.
His last choice was worlds better than the man you tried to stop everybody from criticizing when he got fired. So I have faith in his choice this time as well. or are you one of those BRB fools who thinks Callahan has improved the talent and the team?
December 19th, 2007 at 3:59 pm
Count, again, I don’t have a clue why you believe I was a Callahan backer. I stated it several times. Billy needed to go and I am glad he was fired. Please let it go. As for Solich, he should have been fired after going 7-7. Just ask Osborne who said during his search that you have to win at Nebraska.
BTW, the talent is better.
December 19th, 2007 at 4:11 pm
BTW, the talent is better.
BTW No it’s not.
Tell you what name of the people playing in the NFL from the 2003 team and then name off the people from the 2007 you think might get a shot.
December 19th, 2007 at 4:22 pm
I dont think Solich was a bad coaching choice. We were at the top of our game with one of colleges best winning football coaches. Solich was a good coach, he just was not a great coach. offensively he did not have what it takes to be a great coach, it was a quarterback show every game. Chances are with solich we would of continued to have 9-3, 8-4 seasons but certainly not below .500. My point is you cannot magically look into a coach as see how well he is going to do in the future. Coaches like Tom Osborne and Pete Carroll who dominate year in and year out are rare. I dont think we should judge osborne by how well solich did. And I really doubt he had his mind made up before he interviewed anyone.
December 19th, 2007 at 4:25 pm
Spot on.
December 19th, 2007 at 6:01 pm
@DT
7-7. Solich was mediocre at best. Solich was Tom’s choice. He had a team that went .500. I can blame him. As for your arguement that Frank wasn’t a great Offensive Coach, I agree. He also wasn’t a very good Defensive Coach. That’s what brought Pelini to town, remember.
Everyone seems to forget that Osborne was a 9-3 coach for 90% of his time as Head Coach. 9-3 is acceptable. 7-7 is not.
And before you say it Count, Callahan was not acceptable in any year.
December 19th, 2007 at 6:09 pm
@Count
I have some Resolve for that spot
December 19th, 2007 at 6:12 pm
Everyone seems to forget that Osborne was a 9-3 coach for 90% of his time as Head Coach. 9-3 is acceptable. 7-7 is not.
Ok you obviously don’t know what you are talking about. Tom was a 9-3 coach for 90% of his time? When was he worse than 9-3 other than 1976 when he was 9-3-1? So he was at least a 9 win coach 100% of the time.
Frank Solich was head coach for 6 years and had a 58-19 record. He won 9 games every year but one and finished with a record of 58-19. Now The Count is no math major but he does know that 6*9=54 so obviously Frank was a 9 win coach. And what do you know 6*3=18!
So which is it Ed? is a 9-3 coach acceptable or isn’t it?
December 19th, 2007 at 6:23 pm
Did anybody notice that Frank just pulled in the number 10 quarterback in the country?
December 19th, 2007 at 6:25 pm
OK Count. Evidently I have to spell it out for you. When Tom wasn’t 9-3 he was better than 9-3.
Tom Osborne won at least 9 games every year he was coach. Frank Solich did not. He was the Coach that broke the 9 win streak. That is why he should have been fired after going 7-7 (FRANK).
9-3 or BETTER is acceptable. Anything less is not. 9-3-1 is still a nine win season.
Please spin my words again. You make it easy.
December 19th, 2007 at 6:34 pm
We won’t have another coach who wins 9 games every year again. if that’s what you want you won’ get it. Funny that’s the criteria now after you were so defensive about people celebrating a coach who averaged 7 wins a year getting fired. Why not just admit that you are talking in circles.
[comment deleted - keep it friendly]
December 19th, 2007 at 6:49 pm
Don’t make this personal Count.
I did not talk in circles. My only comment was I was not going to celebrate or have a party over someone loosing thier job and I believe anyone who did celebrate it was wrong. I did state Callahan should be fired, but I did not believe anyone should celebrate it. I stand by that. Let it go.
December 19th, 2007 at 7:17 pm
Wow count. When you lose your job I am going to go to a bar and drink! I am going to be so happy! Your family, wife and kids, and all your relatives are going to be so pleased after you get fired. Everyone will be jumping for joy!
THINK ABOUT IT. Think about Callahans family. Sure, he shouldve been fired but that doesnt mean we should celebrate. Think about his kids; they probably got ridiculed at school. Think about how many problems this caused his family. At least feel for the guy. People arent going to celebrate after a regular guy loses his job. People should feel bad for other people when they lose their job. If Bill Callahan was a friend of yours working at minimum wage at Runza and was fired would you feel bad? Come on, Count…Show a little heart.
December 19th, 2007 at 7:26 pm
I wasn’t attacking anyone but ESPN ED. And it wasn’t Solich that didn’t know defense, it was Craig Bohl, who is why Pelini was hired. If Nebraska had someone else besides Jamaal Lord to fall back on in 2002, things might have been different. Jamaal Lord was not a QB but he did play one on TV. If I want to compare the slant ESPN puts on things to the “fair and balanced” news station that’s my perogative. I am not being mean to any one individual, except of course, the owner of that station. Now, Ed, I know you have been many a people, but I doubt you are him.
December 19th, 2007 at 7:32 pm
And as far as Solich and his recruits go…..he had more talent on his teams, he just didn’t have that much. So when they say the cuppord is bare, to an extent, that is true. We were not very deep up and down the depth chart. We are more deep across the board now, but not with more talent….I believe.
December 19th, 2007 at 7:33 pm
Thanks Pete.
@Count
I do believe winning 9 games every year is realistic. USC, Ohio St, LSU, Oklahoma, Texas, and Georgia have done it recently. So why would I as a Husker fan accept anything less?
December 19th, 2007 at 7:38 pm
@ Pete
If count lost his job….I’m assuming he doesn’t have a 3 million dollar buyout so I would feel sorry for him. It’s hard to feel for a guy that gets paid to do nothing after he has divided this whole state and brought so much distress to this program. I don’t feel like he did it on purpose and I will never ridicule his children, but I did have a beer over it!
We shouldn’t celebrate over this guy being fired? Hell, I say we make it a state Holiday….let’s call it Day Of Redemption.
December 19th, 2007 at 7:48 pm
@Brad
Money has nothing to do with it. Callahan was paid market value. I won’t celebrate ANYONE loosing thier job, I don’t care how much he/she makes.
Let’s just agree to disagree. Do we have to bring this up everytime we discuss Coach Pelini or the change in Coaches?

You can’t talk sense to these Big Red Board Pedeyshine drinkers.
If Bill Callahan was a friend of yours working at minimum wage at Runza and was fired would you feel bad? Come on, Count…Show a little heart.
That is so beyond stupid that I am not surprised you and Ed agree.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:11 pm
I am Bill Callahan. I took the job 4 years ago to make Count and those that think like him miserable for four long years. I never wanted to win. I was determined to fail. I wanted myself and 3/4 of my staff to be fired after 4 years. I especially wanted Kevin to fail. I really hate him. I wanted his children to be picked on at school. I wanted him to get death threats.
The last four years was all about money. That is what I am about. I am Satan.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:48 pm
Once again Bill is lieing! There is only one Satan and I am it. Don’t drag me down with you.
December 19th, 2007 at 8:52 pm
@Count
I would say I don’t agree they are pedeyshine drinkers. They both thought Cali should have been fired, and I can attest to that from previous posts. They just don’t think we should rejoice to the heavens about it and we do.
Maybe they are just a little less meanspirited than us, I don’t know, but when someone walks away with University money for nothing I think it’s fair game. Them and only them. Not their wives or their kids or whatever.
December 19th, 2007 at 9:00 pm
Really Ed? I would feel sorry for Callahan had he not received anything. He took us to the bank with his contract. There was nothing in it to punish him should he do something wrong.
Let’s take for example the ex chancellor of UNO…..she was involved in the oversight of the AD scandal there. Instead of being punished, she is collecting a check every month for the rest of her life from taxes that you and I pay. She will make almost 300G’s a year until she dies. Now, do I wish her dead? No, but if she does the way I look at it is we just saved 300,000 that we can pay the coaches, professors and whoever else goes and WORKS everyday. That does not make me cruel, just practical.
December 19th, 2007 at 9:01 pm
Oh, and Ed you are the one that always disagrees with me, so just don’t and we’ll get along fine!
December 19th, 2007 at 10:38 pm
I agree that I disagree, therfore I disagree to agree with what you disagree. I think that means that I disagree to agree that we agree to disagree. Or maybe it means that I won’t agree to disagree because I disagree with what you agree.
Agreed?
It’s late!
December 20th, 2007 at 4:53 am
Ed, why are you so touchy about FOX news? I also see you are taking the ESPN line of reasoning, “and RD there are plenty of proven winners that would want to take the Nebraaska job.” WHO? Is there a clubhouse somewhere with a couple dozen unemployed winning coaches sitting around waiting for the bat phone to ring? (And if you even mention Bowden I will get into my truck, drive up to your house, choke you and drink all your beer!) Hey, Paterno is a winning coach (I see dead people), maybe we could ‘lure’ him here. Besides which Bo HAS a proven record of coaching winning teams.
As far as Callahan goes I, for one, am happy he got fired. He was a poor choice, and he proved it. I keep trying to feel bad for someone making millions for sitting on his nuts and you know what? I just can’t. Money has nothing to do with it? Here in the real world money has everything to do with everything. Did anyone here, seriously, watch the press conference with TO when he announced Callahan being let go and say to themselves, “Ah jeez, what a shame, that’s too bad. I think I’ll take him a caserole?” Give me a break. We were all happy about it.
December 20th, 2007 at 4:59 am
What the hell is pedeyshine by the way? It can’t be any worse than Bud Light clamato. Who would’ve ever thought you could mix clam juice, tomato juice and alcohol together and get people to pay to drink it.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:46 am
Dont think about the money the guy has. Think about his family. Do you think people made fun of kids? Do you think people yell things at him in airports, stores, etc? He might have millions of dollars but his family isnt in a good situation. Its hard to lose your job; understand that.
December 20th, 2007 at 7:28 am
If I get fired and recieve a 3 million dollar buyout I will take all of you to the bar with me, and yes my family will be happy. And I wont give a damn what other people say. Callahan will take a 6 figure job as an NFL offensive assistant in a few years. Im not saying his family deserves to be yelled at, but seriously, just get out of nebraska then.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:21 am
I do understand losing your job is hard Pete, for most Americans it would be a crippiling blow; but it simply isn’t for a person in Callahan’s situation. At worst he suffered a shot to his ego, but I seriously doubt he is so fragile he won’t bounce back. I have no axe to grind against the guy and I wish him the best of luck in the future, he didn’t work out here and he is gone. He’s not going to shed any tears over it and neither am I. Sure it sucks for his family, but any grief his children endured was because of the performance of their Dad’s team, not because he was fired. Childish and ignorant to be sure, but then again we are talking about kids. Any threats either he or Cosgrove received were the delusional rantings of the lunatic fringe and not of true Husker fans.
Beware DT, Ed and I can put a serious dent in an open bar.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:28 am
@RD
“I’ll take him a caserole” classic man, I just got a good laugh.
Pedeyshine is a fictional product that takes the crappy luster off of something and makes it appear New and Shiny when it is actually still crappy
I.E. I will not let this program drift towards mediocrity…..and it was….wait here comes the Pedeyshine….Oh look Big 12 North Champs….New Contracts….Heralded recruits……Take the Pedeyshine off and you get 5-7 and your walking papers.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:32 am

I simply offered a ride, never did I say the bar would be open…. But Die Hard Callahan Supporters Like Ed would not be invited anyway…

IF CALLAHAN WORKED AT RUNZA I WOULD NO LONGER BE ABLE TO EAT THERE…. THE MENU WOULD BE WAYYYYYYY TO COMPLICATED FOR ME…
December 20th, 2007 at 12:24 pm
I do “feel sorry” for the assistants, especially Joe Rudolph and Buddy Wyatt who were only here one year. But, Nebraska showing it’s class, paid them until after next year however it was no where near the 7 figure range Loserhan and Pedeyshine got.
December 20th, 2007 at 12:39 pm
@Ed and Pete
He sure as hell wasn’t about winning, or the tradition NU had built. He was about as he said ” My system works, and those records will stand for a long time.” If it was about anyone it was about him proving that Al Davis was wrong in firing him and that his system was what made the Raiders. Bill Callahan owes us the fans, the state of Nebraska, The Cornhusker tradition, every farmer, kid hunting with Dad, kids in the backyard dreaming and all of us who life long have followed OUR team an apology. He should man up and say hey I will rehang myself in penance every all-american picture Steve P. took down and I protested vehemently against, ya right you did. Next he will public apologize for every record he allowed to fall under his watch, by not using what he had to win, but stubbornly inserting a system with lots of pieces missing. Good coaches use what they have to win, Bill would not do that because it was about his system at the expense of our tradition. Ed do you bleed husker red? because your comments lead me to believe you have a soft spot for someone who cared so little about your teams tradition, so much so if he could of had Toms statue removed he would have. Was it right for the kids to take abuse in schools for the lack of coaching talent of their fathers? No unless they proclaimed they wanted to coach as well, then I say it is fair game.
Tell me did you ever get picked on in school, I did and my Dad was the telephone guy. This little life lesson his kids are facing will only make them stronger. Toughen up man, If I had $62,500 coming every month (for tarnishing a proud footballtradition) you could throw rotten fruit at me as I walked through airports, grocery stores heck even at church, cause a $5 cleaning bill ain’t jack. His poor family on their decreped farmstead shack, listening to the old transistor as they lie besieged in Lincoln By the horde of little red, c’mon sally’s. Life is tough he made his bed, now he must sleep in it. Not to mention he will get an OC gig because he can do that and all will be well in Callahan land, that is if the legions of Herbie don’t berate him during his Fox news special. Finally, in my long winded rant the hire.
#1 Nebraska was weak on
A.Offense, B.Per bushel AVG C.Dorothy Lynch sales
D. Defense
#2 Paul Johnson was an
A.Offensive mind B. porn star C.Really beat no one.
D. Belly dancer
# T or F Jim Grobe wanted to leave Wake Forest, and would have been a good fit.
Bobby Petrino can coach but he Is a money hunter, Fox sports said Oklahoma could have gotten a proven coach but went with the easy choice in Bob Stoops. Bo will be fine hey and so will poor Billie Callhan and Kevin Cosgroves families
December 20th, 2007 at 12:51 pm
Bill Callahan didnt get fired. He fired himself. Billy C had one fatal flaw. And thats not getting a better D Coordinator.
Don’t feel bad for Billy C. He only has $60,000 to spend on his poor wife and kids this month for Christmas.
December 20th, 2007 at 2:18 pm
@RedTILLDEAD
All perfectly true and number one isn’t B?
December 20th, 2007 at 3:28 pm
@RedTillDead
1 is D and C but more so D because Dorthy could cover Lettuce and the Huskers covered little to nothing
2 is all the above and not what NU needed
Jim Grobe won’t leave and would fit in my car trunk but not with my football team the rest are true.
RedTillDead you really need to be more sympathetic to Billie C and the Gang, Gosh they tried hard to do good things, and they were real nice people, kind courteous and such, didn’t no a lick about the Husker tradition or football for that matter, but Gee Whiz Golly Darn Diggity, I bet Fox Sports will run a nice retrospective on the tarnishing of an image and show those boys in the right light, I mean I see ED and Pete’s side there poor kids were made fun of, and weren’t picked for kickball and made to feel none to good because there pa’s couldn’t do there jobs, I mean cheese and rice those kids are scarred and whent they drive there Lincoln Navigator’s around they all look so sad, I mean I just about break up, but anyway you make sure to Give pete and Ed my love, cause they are such sensitive little Huskers and let RD know when that casseroles ready Pete, Ed and I will go with so we can Pick old Billie C’s brain about his excellent error at Nebraski
December 20th, 2007 at 4:24 pm
Heres an example…
My former neighbor was making 6 or 7 figures a year as President of a software company and he lost his job. He now lives in a dumpy house and is probably making around 50,000 a year. His wife also divorced him and took the kids.
Bill might not have had that happen to him but he still lost his job. Has anyone here ever lost a job? Do you guys think maybe Billy C was humiliated? I am glad that Bill is gone because he sucked. He was stubborn and like DT said waaaaay to complicated. But its still a blow when you lose your job. We can all agree that Bill was a nice guy, cant we? He tried to his best but he ended up sucking. He lost his job because he deserved too. I feel bad for him. I hope he can get another job somewhere else and I wish him the best of luck. I dont care if you guys dont have enough in you to think about it but I do. I cant believe you guys arent even disappointed that this never worked out. I wouldve loved to see Callahan do awesome here. I wouldve rather had him win every game in his 4 years then be sitting here with a new coach. The bottom line is, Bill sucked so he was fired and I’m disappointed that he didnt flourish here at Nebraska.
December 20th, 2007 at 4:40 pm
None of your ranting and raving have even remotely changed my position. Just because I won’t celebrate someone loosing their job has no bearing on the fact that I believe it was the right move and needed to happen. Why is this such a hard concept to comprehend? Yet several of you read into that and suddenly I’m a Callahan supporter and not a true Husker Fan. Fact is, I’m more of a Husker fan than most of you. I care about those that were here, even if they lost too many games. I wish them all well.
December 20th, 2007 at 4:44 pm
Sorry, but I hated him from day one! And I don’t use “HATE” lightly. I’m glad it didn’t work out and I’m glad he ended up looking like the lieing piece of crap baboon that he is! He is lucky he got out of Oakland alive. I’m really surprised those fans didn’t tie him up and throw dart’s at him. If I saw him at a grocery store I sure as hell wouldn’t throw fruit at him! I would be chuck’n can’s of soup as hard as I could! Why feel sorry for his staff? I have never been any kind of football coach and I knew he was idiot, if they couldn’t see that, well then you deserve what you got! You all suck, I’m glad you got fired, now please go away and let the man that should have been our coach do his job and show you how to run a HUSKER football team the right way!!!!!
On a positive note! If any of you are College Football Freak’s like me! BOWL GAMES START TONIGHT!!!! Life is good, bowl games for the next 18 days!!!
Tonight is Utah (8-4) vs Navy (8-4) on ESPN
Utah is an 8 1/2 point favorite. I agree, I say Utah by 12. No Paul Johnson is worth an extra field goal for the Ute’s.
December 20th, 2007 at 4:49 pm
I’ll take Navy and the 8 1/2.
December 20th, 2007 at 5:28 pm
Allright Pete, you and I will just have to agree to disagree. Yes, Callahan is an affable guy, and no I don’t feel bad for him. I don’t for a second think he is feeling sorry for himself either, so why should I?
If your former neighbor is pulling down 50k a year he is doing better than over half of this state as far as single family incomes go; but not NEARLY as well as Bill Callhan is doing.
December 20th, 2007 at 5:34 pm
Well your going down ED!!!
Since everybody seems to be in a violent mood, here is a good like survey to take. I answered honestly and my number was 34. I knew I could beat up a bunch of little kids!!!

Fact is, I’m more of a Husker fan than most of you.
The battle cries of the BRB crowd. I’m a real fan you are not. making 3 million for sucking st your job is the same as making minimum wage. It’s all Frank’s fault.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:20 pm
@ED
I only asked are you a true red bleedin husker fan, you come back with I am more of a fan than most. I believe that you are more of a fan than most Fox news affialiate anchors, or CU alumni, or physically obese ostrich’s, or Kim Jung Il’s generals, and maybe the campbell’s soup girl. Other than that I say move in with you Bud Billie C and have a little west coast family. Why is it so hard to comprehend? The reason, you are a tightrope act balancing left and right and not even having sight of what you stand for.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:21 pm
We can all agree that Bill was a nice guy, cant we?
Having read the Nebraska Way…No we can’t actually. The guy is a jerk.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:48 pm
@RedTillDead
You can’t make an arguement without making this a personal attack on me. Sad really, that you have to stoop to that level. Go ahead, twist my words and take another personal shot at me and my best friend Bill.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:54 pm
@RedTillDead
That’s when you know you’ve got him. he can’t come up with a defense so he starts whining about personal attacks. Ed’s got a really bad chin.
December 20th, 2007 at 6:56 pm
@Forever Red
LOL — I could only take 16 of the little brats. In reallity it’s probably 0
December 20th, 2007 at 6:59 pm
@Count
No one has me in this arguement. Personal attacks like yours and RTD are signs of weakness. You are the one’s who can’t have a civil discussion.
December 20th, 2007 at 7:05 pm
Is there a crying smiley on here?
December 20th, 2007 at 7:10 pm
Huh, Did you guys know that the old spanish folk song La Cucaracha is about a marijuana smoking cockroach? Intresting!
Once again I get screwed by ESPN!!! I don’t want to watch stupid Basketball and I don’t want to suscribe to your stupid 360!!!
(insert sounds of my throwing stuff)
December 20th, 2007 at 7:11 pm
Once again I get screwed by ESPN!!! I don’t want to watch stupid Basketball and I don’t want to suscribe to your stupid 360!!!
(insert sounds of my throwing stuff)
Just so long as Duke loses.
December 20th, 2007 at 7:14 pm
Just for you Count…GO DUKE! I can’t stand Pitts new AD — now there’s an ars!
I’m with you Red!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:19 pm
Red — if you hadn’t heard, it’s on ESPN Classic!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:23 pm
Just for you Count…GO DUKE!
Yeah I’m not shocked probably Creighton fan as well.
December 20th, 2007 at 7:26 pm
@Count
Maybe we have found some common ground. I hate Creighton! As far as Duke, I could care less either way, but I HATE Pitt!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:29 pm
Thanks Ed! I was to busy picking up the stuff I threw!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:30 pm
@Pete….yeah your buddy went from 7 figures to $50,000? I’d leave his ass too, but if he would’ve got a seven figure buyout he would be back in the saddle. That is apples and oranges. There is nothing wrong with a $50,000 a year job and apparently he doesn’t need the shallow girl anyway. So, if for some reason, he goes from president of a software company to a Manager at McDonalds then he has some seriously bad planning in his life. If he was successful enough to bring down high 6’s there is NO WAY he should drop that far down unless of course he was incompetant, which is what Billie C was.
@RTD—– ROTFLMAO!!
December 20th, 2007 at 7:38 pm
It always comes back to the almighty dollar! Callahan was paid market value and his contract was standard. Don’t blame him for playing the game. Blame the previous administation for making a bad hire. And before you ask, yes Steve (another good friend of min — sarcasm) should have been fired. He was an ass. However, I didn’t party when he was fired. At least I’m consistent.
December 20th, 2007 at 8:52 pm
Ed for the last time….we all know he was paid fair market overated value. That is not our gripe. Well at least mine. Do you think money grows on trees? Aparently you must be a Republican and therefore I will assume you and taxes are like Oil and water. All these crappy contracts we keep signing and making….for what? A little security? Why don’t we have a “You Screwed Up” clause in these contracts? That is my gripe about the money, that we didn’t even begin to get what we paid for and we were duped and fooled into thinking it could’ve been something special. We are not sad he was fired and cheer it. There is a BIG difference between a guy trying to make ends meet with a job and he gets fired and to Billie C getting a big huge ass chunck of change. I would let you kick me in the balls…..really really hard for 3 mil. All he had to do was not “RECOGNIZE” who it was that paved the road for his possible success at this program. Sounds like a fair trade. As much as YOU say we are not going to try to change your opinion…..why do you keep trying to change ours. We are stating our opinion. So what If I’m not sad he is gone. STOP tring to jam the “oh I’m a better fan than you cause I have compassion for all of humanity” crap down on us and we will do the same. Doesn’t it piss you off that BC and SP ruined a storied program with tradition and a national fan base? It does us. No one is better than the other.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:01 pm
Well………………If your a Democrat, I’m better then you.
Where are all those Buff fans? Now that was good entertainment!
If you liked Bill, guess what? I’m sorry but he isn’t coming back!
If you hated Bill, guess what? You can’t make him any more gone then he is!
You guy’s ever heard of this guy Bo Pelini? He is our new coach. No need to worry about his contract HB, as of right now he doesn’t have one. We could fire him for free!
Go Ute’s!!!
December 20th, 2007 at 9:06 pm
@Brad
I agree. Why then do you take personal shots at Pete and I? I have no problem with your arguement. I do have a problem with you assuming I’m a Republican. What does that matter and how is it relevant?
December 20th, 2007 at 9:10 pm
Forever Red! Says:
December 20th, 2007 at 9:01 pm
Well………………If your a Democrat, I’m better then you.
I am a Democrat and I know the difference between your and you’re… just saying.
If you liked Bill, guess what? I’m sorry but he isn’t coming back!-Thank God.
If you hated Bill, guess what? You can’t make him any more gone then he is!-Thank God.
And taking a personal shot at Ed=Ed admitting he lost an argument. In this case he never had one.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:21 pm
I was going to pick Navy and changed my mind when Paul Johnson bolted for G-Tech. I know service academies play their butts off in these games but I am shocked at Navy’s defense tonight.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:23 pm
No one won Count. Nebraska is starting over because of a poor decision to hire Steve Pederson. By the way, Tom gave his blessing on the hire.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:24 pm
ED
Go and tell me….click and paste it in your response…where I attacked you and Pete in this post. I defended you guys once in number 33.
On a funny note, an e-mail sent to me.

December 20th, 2007 at 9:26 pm
@Count,
You should know the difference after all those years on Sesame Street. I’m really not one to pick apart spelling. I could really give a rat’s behind what party you belong to. It was all in good fun. I’m sure HB won’t lose any sleep over it. I don’t belong to or like anything that has to do with politics. Life is to short for that bunch of BS.
Callahan is gone and he still does damage around here. I would prefer to talk about Bo.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:29 pm
I don’t disagree with you.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:33 pm
And yes, Navy’s D is pretty impressive tonight. I don’t think my pick is gonna come in.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:34 pm
As soon as I posted that about Navy’s defense Utah busts a play.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:39 pm
You are absolutely wrong Count, Ed will never ever, ever admit he lost an argument. If you ask him he will tell you he has never been in an argument. Fkd up I know, but that’s the way it is. But, instead of worrying about what Ed thinks maybe you could make a point. I read through the posts a couple of times and I didn’t see one.
December 20th, 2007 at 9:41 pm
Brad’s right Ed, he did have your back
December 20th, 2007 at 9:53 pm
And what part of your body does Ed have?
December 20th, 2007 at 9:56 pm
@ RD and Brad
I apologize. Pedyshine threw me off
December 20th, 2007 at 9:58 pm
That was funny sht Brad.
December 20th, 2007 at 10:01 pm
That’s what I’m talk’n about! Go Ute’s!
December 20th, 2007 at 10:12 pm
Oh my frickin god!!!! Is it Ok to talk about GOD on here, ED? Ed said sorry.
December 20th, 2007 at 10:15 pm
Talking about politics will do nothing other than lead to endless arguments. Let’s keep this about sports and leave the political talk for the political sites.
December 20th, 2007 at 10:19 pm

Hey it’s the Admin! How’s it going? You shouldn’t leave us Husker Fan(atics) to play on our own!
Ha Ha Ha!
December 20th, 2007 at 10:30 pm
The eyes are always watching - except when they are distracted by “the day job.”
Actually, I have a milestone deadline next week and I’m now back on track to hit it. So I should be back to my usual slacking self to start the new year. Damn projects. Damn deadlines. Oh yeah, paychecks.
December 20th, 2007 at 10:33 pm
Good luck! Happy Holiday’s!
December 20th, 2007 at 10:34 pm
By the way. I have tickets to the Nebraska/Kansas basketball game in January. My first Husker basketball game in like 14 years…
December 20th, 2007 at 10:37 pm
Nice! I’m even thinking about going to a Basketball game. Let’s hope it’s a good game this year! Things are looking better.
December 20th, 2007 at 10:55 pm

@ED
I still got your back if Huskerville is under attack, but we aren’t shatin a foxhole because over compassion for the enemy is the major sign of weakness within the ranks. Walking in others shoes quite alright but bedding with the enemy is weakness.
December 21st, 2007 at 9:05 am
Damn over 100 comments. Nice work.
December 21st, 2007 at 9:37 am
@RedTillDead
see you can’t even comeback without taking it to a personal level, Just because I try to tell people where they can and can not go with their blogs, and really back people into corners, and pretty much taking everything as a personal shot agianst me and my morales and folkways doesn’t mean I am not a blogging jugernaut.
Ya ed personally you are like a mental Grenada to my verbal Jihad, and I only toy with your juggling bloggs because it keeps me honed for the real sounds offs when we are stalked by trojans , tigers and buffs oh my! We all take our love of the Huskers personal that is why you get so butt hurt when called out. I have no compassion for any tarnish on my team. None, I am a cold hearted winning is the only thing that metters guy.
December 21st, 2007 at 5:07 pm
Hey, it’s Bowl #2 time, Memphis (7-5) vs Florida Atlantic (7-5) Right now Florida is a 2 1/2 point favorite. I say Captain Kangaroo will do much better then that. Florida by 20.
I was right on Utah winning but off on points.
I’m (1-0)
December 21st, 2007 at 9:30 pm
I’m staring at a four day weekend (and I hope you all are too) which is the room I needed to read through this thread.
@ Admin -
When you talk about “the media” today, you’re also talking politics. Sad, but true.
p.s. Florida Atlantic is up by 17 in the 4th…who (besides Forever Red) knew?
December 22nd, 2007 at 8:52 am
@Bugeater,
I’m starting a 5 day weekend!!! Woo Hoo!!! Interesting thread huh?
Well I’m 2-0,
Todays first game is Southren Miss (7-5) vs Cincinnati (9-3) Cincinnati is a 10 1/2 point favorite. This is the only game I agree with them on. Cincinnati will win and cover.
2nd game, Nevada (6-6) vs New Mexico (8-4) New Mexico is a 2 1/2 point favorite. I disagree, Nevada had a much tougher schedule. Nevada by 6.
3rd game, UCLA (6-6) vs BYU (10-2) BYU is a 6 point favorite. Once again I disagree, UCLA by 10.
Have a great day!!!
December 22nd, 2007 at 9:41 pm
Well Hell! That was a crappy day! Last year I missed 4 games, I was hoping to break that record this year. I don’t think missing 2 on one day will help.
3-2
