Recruits Dropping Like Nebraska Records! UPDATED
According to rivals.com, two more commits from Nebraska’s 2008 recruiting class have fallen off the Husker Radar. One of those is three star weakside defensive end Josh Williams from Denton, TX and he has narrowed his teams to three- Colorado , Kansas, and Missouri. We already have 2 ends committed in Cameron Meredith and Eric Harper so I feel it is really no big loss and could free up a scholarship for some areas where we need it more, such as DB or DT. Also, OT Bryce Givens decided to go with two, Texas and Colorado. Once again, we are stacked at OT already with the addition of Baker Steinkuhler and Brandon Thompson not to mention Slausen, Burkes, Williams, D.J. Jones, and Marcel Jones. We could use that somewhere better. The area of concern, however, is Simi Kuli. According to rivals, Kuli took a visit to Oregon St. and was very very impressed. I am lost on this one. I thought for sure Simi committed to Nebraska knowing full well Bo Pelini would be his coach and that he was a rock solid commit. In this day and age where is doesn’t mean jack until you sign, I guess we will just have to wait and see. Is it Signing Day yet?
You can count “Mr. Rock Solid yeah I am 100% committed to the University of Nebraska at Lincoln” Doug Rippy in this equation too. I’m not being mean to him. He was on 1620 the Zone professing his love for Nebraska just last week.
I am not so caught up on recruiting either. Outside of Givens, Jonas Gray, and Blaine Gabbert, these are all blue collar 2-3 star kind of guys. The film doesn’t lie about how athletic some of these players we are losing are. I am sure we will get people to take their place but it is disturbing that Nebraska cannot hold onto these commits. This is NEBRASKA! Not KU or Colorado, or Missouri. In this day of age when coaches sign contracts are proclaim their love for the university and then 5 months later bolt, it is starting to become too commonplace for a coach or recruit to “de-commit” themselves. Here is a breakthrough idea that you footballers might want to try. Don’t commit. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Stop blowing smoke up people’s behinds and take a stand on something.
Simi Kuli is off Nebraska’s list and so is Will (born and raised in..) Compton. This is starting to be annoying, however, I hold out hope for a mid-late January push. After BO! doesn’t let the OSU score any points and his name is mentioned every 5 seconds, I believe recruits will be easier to get.

I somewhat expected this. I believe enough quality players will be retained when it’s all said and done. Wait until Pelini’s mug is seen throughout the NC game as LSU shuts out OSU. You may see a surge in January.

This recruiting thing is starting to get out of hand. A lot of people are starting to write off the season already because we don’t have all the 4 and 5 star players we need. I’ll take a 3 star with the heart to play football over a 5 star any day. Rivals but’s these guys up on a pedistool and that is usually how they expect to be treated. If Kansas can make a go of it with 2 and 3 stars I’m sure we can to. Once again I think we need to lay off the negetivity until some games are played. I’m sure Bo will at least come up with enough players to fill the roster. If he just needs some bodies to fill scholorships, I’m available.

I was thinking linebacker or kicker. I don’t know if I could get up fast enough to be on the line any more.

I don’t know if you could kick it if the game was on the line, either.
