McKeon Has Spoketh and Y’ALL Must Listen!
First and foremost, I must give all praise and thanks to Forever rED. Without him, this wouldn’t be possible.
According to chicagosports.com, Corey McKeon is going to miss us here in Nebraska. :-( Well, all I can say is, I will miss Freshman and Sophomore Corey too! and maybe half… ok 2/3’s of Junior Corey.
“It’s unfortunate but I gave it my all and so did all of my teammates,” said McKeon, who started at linebacker for the Cornhuskers in each of his last three seasons. “As much as I’d like to be playing, I’m fortunate to have a chance to play at the next level.”
“Like that time during the Okie State game when I could’ve tackled that guy out of bounds and instead I tapped him and said “Your It” right before he scored.”
McKeon on The Hula Bowl:
“It will be a lot of fun to play with some of the guys you’ve played against during your career,” McKeon said. “It’s like a vacation with a little work mixed in. I’m fortunate to be playing there because it gets some scouts watching me — it’s a good way to continue on.”
Does that sound sooooo like last year’s defense to anyone else? I’d also like to take this time to forewarn all females of drinking age that CM is coming to a bar near Honolulu soon. Does the Dog still bounty hunt?
And finally, like we haven’t heard it before:
“It was a great experience being here for these five years,” McKeon said. “The tradition here is so special and the expectations are really high. The fans love you one minute and hate you the next.”
Yeah, you’re right Corey. We do.

What happened to this guy? He was a classic Blackshirt for two and a half years and then he vanished. I have to think loosing and a coaching staff that didn’t/couldn’t motivate players to give thier all on defense, finally sucked the joy of the game out of him. Sad really…

I do think it is funny how he mentions in the article that they went and changed the defense on them this year. I wonder how much of that was because of the special visit we payed Auburn’s defensive staff in the off season? Look Auburn has speed. Speed we didn’t have on the field at all times. Our D played great towards the end last year (2006) for the most part. Then they go and tinker with it. I would’ve been happy with the 50th best defense this year! Classic Cosgrove. Never knowing when to adjust.

This guy used to be my favorite guy on the team. I even bought his jersey. I really thought he had the chance to be the next great Husker. Well at the end of the interveiw at least he set his goals more resonable, taking over a high school football team.

I am a little confused; don’t players talk about how fortunate they are to play at the next level AFTER they get to the next level? Unless of course he condiders the Hula Bowl the next level.
What happened to him Ed? Apparently he took on the persona of his coaches, you know, allow ego to take the place of performance. Sad, you are right. But, what the hell Corey, best of luck to you.

He hurt his ankle midaway last season and was never the same since…

You never heard about the ankle until now. Well maybe you heard about it when it happened
but the general public didn’t!

I remember going to the K-State game in ‘06 and asked the guy next to me why Corey wasnt starting; He said Corey hurt his ankle. He sucked that game and pretty much sucked the rest of his tenure at NU.

I will edumacate you on what happened to the mike linebacker who put the O in ole. Corey I hear mexico calling, I digress. Adam Carriker and Jay Moore. Not to mention the D tackles. It is easy to make plays when the other team has to commit five and six guys to handle your front four especially on the ground. These guys allowed our linebackers and our fans to believe we had world beaters in the flats. When they were left exposed this year we looked like we were running on flats. Phillip Dillard is a baller. He attacks the blocker if he can’t get to the ball carrier, Corey will skirt the edges then have his skirt ruffled as they go buy. Good riddance Corey, have fun in Mexico if they want your services.
