Patrick J. Witt, 18, was arrested and lodged in jail on suspicion of disturbing the peace, trespassing, third-degree assault by menacing threats, minor in possession by consuming and possession of a false ID.
Coach Pelini’s reaction:
“I have talked with Patrick about the incident over the weekend and we are looking into the facts,” Nebraska coach Bo Pelini said. “This matter will be dealt with internally.”
Hopefully this is an isolated incident. It will be interesting to see how Bo handles this situation. My guess is Witt will get a second chance as long as he’s willing to admit his mistake and a learn from it.
[update] OK Husker fans. You rallied to beat back the evil hoard of Buffalo, but what are your thoughts about Witt? Does Pelini draw a line in the sand or is it part of learning and growing up? I truely believe this is a defining moment in Bo’s tenure. If it goes south, does he loose support? Should he ignore it or address it head on? Does he keep it internal or share with Husker Nation? I’m afraid to reply because the last time i did my postings got erased. BUT i will. I’ll also beat whoever Pete is to the punch…i know the buffs havent had clean hands. it’s too bad rae’s moral compass wasnt as good as his hands in college. the whole scandal is finally over with (a settlement was finally reached without any convictions.)
with all that said…stop knocking us, because Nu has done NOTHING this decade. ok, you went to the national championship game once (after being blown out 62-36 and not even winning the big 12), CU has won the boring North title more than you even with crappy Barnett teams and you still deny we have a rivalry because you want to believe OU cares about you. i love having you guys as a rivalry, for the most part you are nice fans as we travel (minus the “sal is dead, go big red”), but it’s time for a reality check..we are long away from 1997, enjoy a next couple years of “rebuilding” and thank you for your dropping recruits (i.e. shaun mohler and soon to be givens).

Stop knocking you? Colorodo has done nothing since they backed into the Championship after needing five downs against an average Missouri team. Before that they finished 3rd behind Nebraska and Oklahoma in 1971.
Colorado is not our rival. We may be your rival, but we could care less about the Buffalos. In order to be a rival you have to win more than 18 times in 66 tries. All time record, NU 46 CU 18 T 2.
If you ask the average Husker fan, Oklahoma is our rival because the series is much closer — 37-43-2 OU. Sooner fans are also more knowlwdgeable and more classy than the majority of thugs known as Colorado fans.
I don’t see alot of Sooner fans posting venom on this site. Enjoy your recruits. We don’t need them.

Lets look at that monnicker, Colorado fan wants so much to be where Nebraska fan is that they take 3rd grade swipes at a tradition known throughout college sports. When news media spoke of the collapse of the blackshirts they were talking about the real blackshirts and that tradition of top defenses. When Nebraska is down the sports media will take note and you always hear college football is much more interesting when NU is on top of their game. The only time you hear about CU is when the gang bang at the fraternity house doesn’t goes as planned or they do something unexpected like beat OU, otherwise they could basically disappear and the sports world would go unfazed. The reason, no tradition of winning and excellence. They are just another one hit wonder. You can call NU your rival, but we have to reciprocate that feeling. The big 12 has tried to make NU vs CU the North rivalry game for both. You can’t just make that, it happens over time. Remember in 2005 when CU let Texas put up over 70 in the Big XII Championship game or the time they had all of the students kicked out of a section? Or the time they got smacked 30-3 at home by NU? CU has no tradition, at least no positive tradition. They cannot recruit (Your highest-touted prospect is only a 4-Star and I’ve seen the film on him; he sucks). And to let you know “blackshirt”, all of us Husker fans expected something like this from our young QB. I have a brother that goes to UNL who also happens to be named Patrick Witt (I’m not bullshiting, check facebook). My brother Patrick Witt said that the other Patrick Witt, the QB, is a real prick and isnt somebody we want on the NU football team. If he gets thrown off the team, so be it. We’ll put him in a package and send him right to Folsom Field. I’m sure he’ll fit right in. Oh, and one more thing, CU is not our rival. I love how you guys proclaimed this game a rivalry but it will never be one. CU fans might veiw Nebraska as their rival but NU has only had one true rival and that is Oklahoma. Go have fun skiing or playing in snow or whatever it is you do in Colorado; I’d rather be doing that than trying to pick internet fights with people over 500 miles away from you.

By the way, Shaun Mohler and Givens will both be in Big Red uniforms next season. Also, you and that other CU fan “Buffchriss” both have said OU isnt our rival anymore because they dont care about us. Do you remember what the name of our conferance is? THE BIG XII. There is a north division and a South Division. We cannot play OU every year because of the divisions. It would cost both schools thousands of dollars to play every year and it is not feesible to do so anymore. Remeber when we were in the Big XII Championship game last year? I do, I was there. The OU fans were estatic to play Nebraska. They made the game feel like old again. You CU fans, or at least the ones that post here, are retards. If your going to give me an excuse as to why OU and NU dont play every year, at least give me one that might make sense instead of making one that sounds like it came from a 7 year-old. Just accept the fact the buffs are on the rise and Nebraska’s is declining. In College Football this year we saw the emergence of small teams (South Florida, Hawaii, BC) and the decline of the once proud programs (Miami, Florida State, NEBRASKA). Just realize in the modern age people can see pictures of Nebraska via the internet and no one will want to go there after that information is provided to them. I’ll let you sit on your porch over looking corn fields and talk about the grandeur of what ONCE was while I will sit here in the beautiful flatirons of boulder and talk about what is ABOUT to be. Please don’t sit there and tell me how beautiful your state is. I have relatives that have lived in Colorado their whole lives. You used to have one of the best states on the map. Not anymore! When they come visit all they talk about is how much easier it is to breathe here and that there is still true “country” here. Not an isolated ski resort owned by the rich and famous who happen to be lesbians. You guy’s were stupid and let every Tom, Dick, and Dumbass from CA move up in the mountains. Now instead of great majestic snow capped mountains you get to see the brown part on the bottom because the smog and houses cover the rest. Here is how most of the people in Colorado think, I’m more important then anything in the world so screw the land, the water, and the animals. If you have to kill um all to build me a house, well so be it! I have also been to your wonderful campus for a game. I wouldn’t brag to much about it, most of us on here have seen what it looks like. You can say what you want about Nebraska, doesn’t really matter, I think we will be ok even without your approval. Unlike you, bowling isn’t a big deal for me, I prefer to actually go see what the world has to offer, I come visit your mountains every year, my family and I enjoy them, I just hope you put as much effort into saving them as you do hating on us. The people who live in boulder and ski in the rich ski resorts are not part of colorado. You know, buffalo stains, It’s easy to kick a program when it’s down, doesn’t really take much imagination, thought or insight at all to point the obvious flaws of this season’s NU team. Everyone here in Nebraska, including myself, has been doing it since the Ball State game. The difference between NU and CU is that one is a storied and proud institution of winning and athletic - as well as academic - excellence and the other is a school of thugs and delinquents up in the mountains. The University of Colorado has never been, and will never be on the same level as the University of Nebraska. Don’t take my word for it, let’s take a look at the books:
National Championships – NU 5, CU 1. (And it was iffy, at best.)
Conference titles – NU 17, CU 6 (1958 first year of the big 8 to present)).
Bowl record - NU 22-22 , CU 12-15. (In case you are a CU grad that’d be 44 NU bowl games vs 27 for CU)
Number of All Americans – NU 92 players for 106 1st team All Americans, CU 61 1st teamers.
Heisman Trophy winners – NU 3, CU 1.
Outland trophy winners – NU 8(leads the nation) , CU 0.
Lombardi trophy winners - NU 4, CU 0.
Rimmington trophy winners – NU 1, (not including Rimmington himself) CU 0.
Overall record NU 803-326 (Only the 4th Div. 1a school to record 800 or more wins), CU 650-402.
Head to head record – NU is 45-17 against the Buffs. I could go on but surely you get the point.

Colorado is better than Nebraska this season. They have a better record, therefore they are better. That doesnt mean from now on CU is better than NU. Big-time programs like NU always have periods when they do not perform up to the highest standards and right now NU is in fact doing just that; not performing to the highest standards. Take a look at Notre Dame or Texas A&M. They are having down years but that doesnt mean that the littler programs are now “better” than them. Notre Dame sucks this year and Navy beat them. That doesnt mean that Navy is from here on out better than Notre Dame no matter what happens in the future. I’ll admit it, I like Dan Hawkins. I like what he’s doing in Colorado. With that said, I do not think he’ll ever be as great as Tom Osbourne and I dont think he’ll ever have a winning record against Nebraska. Cu might be on the rise but they are not and will not be as good as Nebraska for a very long time. Things could change in 50 years but I dont see it happening anytime soon.
P.S. We arent hicks. None of us own cornfeilds. We all live in regular houses in regular cities. We’re just like you except we dont have pretty mountains-we have flat land with crops on it. And we have 1.8 million people in our state compared to your 10 million or whatever it is. I know its a pretty funny stereotype but for the most part it isnt true. If you are still lurking out there in the shadows, Sorry I didn’t see your last post. I’m glad you realize that in the end it’s all in good fun. I really don’t mind input from other’s out there in the Big 12. It makes for some good debating in the off season. It would be nice if we could do it with a little less of the hate’n. I can only hope that this year it’s at least a competitive game.
