According to Lincoln Journal Star, Tom Osborne has given Bo Pelini his “full support” to coach LSU against Ohio State in the Bowl Championship Series championship game.
“Bo has been at LSU for three years, and its players and coaches have worked very hard for a chance to win the national championship,” Osborne said.
Osborne acknowledged in his statement that the game is “particularly meaningful” to Pelini since LSU is playing Ohio State. Pelini was a free safety for the Buckeyes from 1987-90. As a senior, he received the “Bo Rein Award,” given annually to Ohio State’s most inspirational player.

Kind of off topic, but I see on Nebraska Rivals we have offered a DT kid in Youngstown, OH that went to Pelini’s High School. I would like us to get away from so many JUCO’s who come into this program for a short period of time and really don’t invest much into the University. We need to start to develop H.S. seniors into players with pride for where they choose to play and not take a Juco who wastes a year “getting up to speed”.

I agree the JUCO route is a band aid at best. I think Coach McCarney relied fairly heavily on junior college transfers when he started at ISU and it had an immidiate impact on the program, just not a lasting one. NU had a embarassing forgettable season, but it’s program is no where as bad as Iowa State’s is or ever was. You’re right, we need to develop strong High School recruiting programs AND make a real commitments to our walk-ons.
As far a Pelini coaching the Nat. title game goes, I think it is absolutely the best thing he could do. It proves he respects the commitments he made, and I can’t imagine a more powerful recruiting tool. High School kids who watch the LSU game will be told over and over that LSU’s defensive coordinator is the new head man at the University of Nebraska. And when the recruiting team sits down in the living room of some blue chip recruit, there’s NU’s head man with a shiny Nat. Championship ring on. Win Win if you ask me.

I sure hope Bo’s boys post a goose egg on the “Suckeyes”

Ditto
JC players are an insult to the high school senior that commits. We dont want to become like KState.
