Bluejays Down the Huskers

Despite all the hoopla in Lincoln today, the Nebraska Basketball faced off against Creighton in the Qwest Center in Omaha with Tom Osborne in attendance.

Nebraska stubbed their toe in the first half with 17 turnovers and went into the half down 27. The Huskers rebounded in the second half, outscoring Creighton by 15, but in the end it wasn’t enough as the Huskers fell 74-62 giving Doc Sadler his first loss against their in-state rivals.

In other news, the HuskerZone.com staff is expanding as we welcome Husker Brad to the table as our official basketball correspondent. He’s been quite active in our comments and has a passion for the roundball. Look for his commentary beginning in the next few days (as soon as I can get him up to speed on the publishing system) and be sure to give him his props.

Welcome Husker Brad.

    Congradulations Brad — You have no idea what you have started here!

    As for the game, I was very disappointed in the effort. 17 turnovers in the first half is unacceptable against anyone, but especially your in State rival.

    Pure domination by Creighton in 1st half(the 17 turnovers sure helped). I liked the great effort in the second half but those 17 turnovers are hard to overcome.

    Nebraska played well in the second half which I was glad to see. I think in the Barry Collier days this game is lost by 40 or 50.

    Thanks Ed. I couldn’t believe what I was watching that first half. But, you see what Doc is made of. He came back and played differently that second half. I still think he should have pounded the ball into Maric. That is what he learned last year after Collier’s inability to use him. Under Collier he would have one game with 30 points and then he would only have 8-10 for 4 or 5 games. He is not a true dominant center, but he can dominate. I just thought Creighton would be a little soft on the inside. I was impressed with Steve Harley and Cookie Miller. 26 first half points off turnovers is a deep hole to get out of, but ( get this ) they adjusted at half time and just ran out of time. I was really impressed with P’Allen from Creighton. That guy is exactly what Nebraska is getting next year in Roburt Sallie!

    Any chance T.O. will bring in a Hockey program? It would be great to have an interesting winter sport.

    The way the Huskers played yesterday against Creighton reminded me a little of Sybil…

    Coudn’t resit Brad. Sorry ;)

    @Forever Red!

    I pay $8 a game as a member of Doc’s Crew. The seats are up top, but I like to watch the play develope anyway. In addition, Doc’s Crew members get free Pizza at every game, a free t-shirt, and we are recognized during the game.

    Hey, ya can’t beat that. I pay 8 bucks for a Lancer’s ticket and I don’t receive any free gifts. Well I take that back, I sit right on the glass so I guess the blood is free!

    I had to laugh a little when you said “and we are recognized during the game.”

    That’s right Doc! You better reconize!!!!
