Doc Sadler Announces New Recruits
Nebraska confirmed the signing of guard Robert Sallie and German center Christopher Niemann. Niemann will join the Huskers as a freshman in the Fall of ‘08. Sallie will have 3 seasons of eligibility as a junior college transfer.
I’ll let Husker Brad tell you why this is great news in the comments ![]()

One of the good things Pederson did do while he was here was bring in a great basketball coach. This team is going to be good soon I guarantee it. They are already making progress, and the recruiting has been ridiculous. Starting this season at 44th in the country is impressive.
November 19th, 2007 at 5:27 pm
This team is good NOW! While they are young, I’ve seen some very good things in the first two games. Doc has this thing going in the right direction.
A few predictions:
They will beat Creighton by double digits Saturday.
They will upset Oregon at the Quest Center on Dec 15.
They will finish in the top half of the Big XII.
They will make the NCAA tournement in March.
November 19th, 2007 at 7:21 pm
This is a tremendous twosome. They both will contribute next year and with those returning, Doc has built a great foundation to build upon. The strength of this team will be the guards and wings. Sallee is as good of a wing player as the Huskers have had since Pike…
November 19th, 2007 at 8:34 pm
The great thing about this kid Sallie is the fact that it is all “what I can do to help the team” there is no I or me. This kid signed a letter of intent to attend Nebraska and when it didn’t work out and he went to Juco he stood by his commitment, even when basketball powerhouses came offering a scholarship. There needs to be more athletes AND people like this. Say what you mean and MEAN what you say. This is why Doc will go a long way here. I just hope we can keep him!! Way to go Steve Pederson!! OK I just slapped myself for saying that.
November 20th, 2007 at 3:14 pm
I went to the game Saturday. As I was walking up to buy a ticket some nice gentlemen handed me two for me and my friend…for free. Anyway the place was 2/3’s empty so we could sit pretty much where we wanted and the crowd that was there was dead. I was sitting on the opposite side of the coaches and could here every word they were saying.
I told my friend if Callahan comes back it won’t be long before this is what football will be like. We can’t have that.
November 20th, 2007 at 3:49 pm
@The Count
I was reading some post on a different site, I see your still trying to put up a good fight. I have come to the conclusion that you will never win. That is the closest thing I have seen to a cult when it comes to Husker football. Good luck my friend.
As far as Husker B-ball goes, I really hope things get turned around. I’m not a huge basketball fan, but I have been to a few games and I would love for our program to turn into a crazy Kansas type atmosphere.
I hope the term NebrasketBall left with Pederson.
November 20th, 2007 at 5:30 pm
@Ed
As much of a Husker Football fan I am, when it comes to basketball Creighton is my number 1 team. Sure, I love Nebraska basketball and hope Doc does well by I’m thinkin’ Creighton will be the ones winning by double digits on Staurday! Good luck to both.
November 20th, 2007 at 9:32 pm
AHHHH Creighton fan….I think it is funny how the people of Creighton B-Ball mock that the Husker Fans show up with a 70,71,94,95 Nation Title shirt on calling basketball wannabe fans and then you look around and it’s nothing but baseball shirts for the bluejays!!!! The huskers are getting there, trust me on this! I have a friend whose sister’s, mother’s, brother’s, cousin says to expect great things in Lincoln. Ya better believe it, buddy!!!
November 20th, 2007 at 9:43 pm
And did I mention 4 more days till X-mas!!!!! Maybe we could have a countdown til the coach is gone ticker at the top of the website!!!!
November 20th, 2007 at 9:59 pm
@ Pete
Maybe you can explain why someone who loves Husker football can like Creighton more than Nebraska in Basketball. Don’t get me wrong, you’re not alone. My brother and many of my friends are the same way.
I just don’t get it. Unless you graduated from Creighton I don’t see the logic. I grew up in Omaha and I cheer for the Jays. But when it comes to playing Nebraska, I am a Cornhusker! Is it a bandwagon thing? I don’t mean that in a mean way, I really want to understand this.
Who do you cheer for in Baseball or soccer, or softball, or does it depend on who is better? Seriously, how can you seperate the football, basketball, baseball, soccer, gymnastics, volleyball, track and field, etc, programs from each other. They are all Cornhuskers!
November 21st, 2007 at 9:25 am
Amen ED!!!! Either you are “forever red” or not.
November 21st, 2007 at 12:24 pm
Of course, I do realize how Barry Collier….wait isn’t that a little funny that the guy that sucked at coaching basketball and the guy that really sucks at football are both BC’s?…anyway, BC ran a very BORING program that was like watching paint dry. So if someone were to jump ship around that time, I would understand.
November 21st, 2007 at 2:32 pm
I live in Omaha, I grew up in Omaha, I still live in Omaha. I am a Creighton fan. I also have not missed a Husker football game in 3 years. I have season tickets to Husker Volleyball and Basketball. I will be at the Quest Center when the Huskers take on Oregon and I will also go to many basketball games in Lincoln. I have been to 10+ Volleyball games this season and plan to go to a few more. This Spring I will get to as many Husker baseball games as possible. This site is not a place to critizice how much of a fan somebody is. This site is a place where all Husker fans can come to voice their opinions on topics surrounding our athletic program.
Being the greatest fans in college football, better yet, all college sports, should be understanding of how people root for different teams. Who said I wasn’t a Husker basketball fan? The only reason I pay more attention to the Jays is because I live in Omaha. I see them in the paper, the news. I did not go to UNL. I live in Nebraska, I am a die-hard fan for Husker football, basketball, etc. I’m going to the Creighton-NU game but I wont really care who will win. I would like to see Creighton win because I think they can have a great year. At the same time I want UNL to win because it would be a great signiture win for Doc and his program.
November 21st, 2007 at 3:56 pm
I Gotta Agree.
November 21st, 2007 at 4:38 pm
Obviously I’m “Forever Red”. What you may not know is I am also “Forever Ed” Go Ed!!!!
November 21st, 2007 at 5:45 pm
@Pete
I understand you were born and raised in Omaha so you pay attention to Creighton. I get that, I do that. But when it comes to head to head competion why cheer for Creighton? You still haven’t justified that or even answered it. Unless you point to the last part of your post when you say you are cheering for both teams. Tell you what Pete, post your favorite on Sunday morning after the game.
I’ll tell you that I will be in morning IF the Huskers loose and on cloud nine WHEN they win.
As a side note, why does the Omaha World Herald cover Creighton B-ball more than Nebraska B-ball? Because they are in the same city you say…then why do the unbeaten UNO Mavericks get the shaft on coverage? I hate to pull the media card but in this case I think it fits…just my two cents.
November 21st, 2007 at 5:48 pm
@Husker Brad
That means the new football coaches initials will be DS…hmmmmmmmmm.
November 21st, 2007 at 6:14 pm
Get the word out!!! Our new head coach come Saturday is gonna be Don Strock from Florida International!!!
Look out Baylor, here we come!
I would like to retract my previous statement, for I don’t beleive Ed found any humor in it. My apologies.
Did I spell that right HB?
November 21st, 2007 at 6:20 pm
@Forever Red
Ohhhhhh, that was supposed to be funny. Just kidding. I appreciate you have my back…at least on this subject.
November 21st, 2007 at 6:53 pm
@Ed
In my first post I didnt say I love Creighton basketball and hate NU basketball. I merely stated my prediction and wished good luck to both teams. I’ll admit it, I give Creighton the edge when it comes down to who I want to win, but thatdoesnt mean I wouldnt like to see the Huskers win. If NU wins, great for them. It would be a great win for Doc and would give the program a huge boost.
Now you asked me why I would cheer for Creighton. The answer is: I dont know. I dont know why my family has always been NU for football and everything else and then Creighton for basketball. Thats just the way I was raised. Ever since I can remember, my family has been NU/CU split. With that said, that doesnt mean I’m kind of a fan for NU and kind of a fan for CU. Believe me, I am diehard NU and diehard CU. The only time I am rooting for Creighton over NU is when they meet on the court. Even then I find it hard to root against my beloved Huskers. Ed, I just want you to know that I love the Huskers, even if I like the Jays too.
November 21st, 2007 at 6:56 pm
@Ed
Another thing, I’m not the only one in town who’s a Creighton fan and a Nebraska fan. Believe me, there are a lot here in Omaha. There’s tons of those damn Notre Dame fans too. I cant stand the Irish!
November 21st, 2007 at 7:14 pm
@pete
I challenged you and you answered true to your heart. I accept it even if I don’t understand it. And we have found some common ground! I hate Notre Dame as well!!
And I like the Jays too. I love the Huskers though.
November 21st, 2007 at 8:25 pm
There ya go! Maybe we can’t all agree on the best thing for the Huskers but I’m definatly in agreement with Hating the Irish. You watch, next year they will still be in the pre-season top 25.
November 21st, 2007 at 8:40 pm
And you and I will relish in every Irish defeat!!! Because Forever Red is actually Ed.
Maybe I should change my name to Sybil.
November 21st, 2007 at 8:41 pm
Happy Thanksgiving to all! Even Colorado fans.
November 21st, 2007 at 9:08 pm
Ha Ha! That’s good stuff. Well, I have to spend the day with extended family tomorrow, so if I don’t make it back I wish nothing but the best for the Huskers and everybody on here. Happy Thanksgiving!
November 21st, 2007 at 9:42 pm
Happy Thanksgiving…but to Colorado fans? Hmmm I don’t know if I can wish them a Happy Thanksgiving!
November 21st, 2007 at 10:00 pm
Signature win for Doc and his program. You must follow Creighton b-ball! They already had a signature win over Creighton. Doc has never lost to Creighton. Well they did only play one game but it was 73-61 in Nebraska’s favor. Nebraska has much more talent on it’s team this year and Creighton has no one to stop Maric. He will score 30 and have like 18 boards. Although, no one will notice because everyone will be hangin’ with the Mayor in the club lounge talking about that sweeet handicap ramp they built over to C.B. and that awesome 4 block trolley system coming soon. If Nebraska played in the MVC they would be close to the top every year also. No one is nocking you Pete, but to keep this a politically savvy sports forum in Dubuyaesque Lingo
Either you are with us or your with the terrorists!

@ Husker Brad
First of all, it is possible to get two signiture wins for your program, even if they do come from the same team. What if in Callahans first year he beat Oklahaoma; signiture win right? If he were to come back and beat Oklahaoma again in 2005 I would also call it a signiture win. To me, a signiture win is when and up-and-coming team wins a game agaainst either a highly-ranked opponenet or a rival. If Doc wins on Saturday it will be a signiture win.
Second of all, you need to understand Omaha a little better. If you were born and raised in Omaha you wouldnt take your red off from August to January. Once basketball season starts, the blue comes on. I dont know if you read my last post, but I was raised this way. It’s the way I’ve been taught and you need to understand that. That’s not to say I’m “against” NU when it comes to basketball, it just means I follow Creighton a little more and get to a few more CU games then NU games. Liking both Creighton and Nebraska isn’t that bad. At least I’m not a Texas fan in the fall, Duke fan in the winter, and a Cal St. Fullerton fan in the Spring.
November 22nd, 2007 at 10:14 am
Pete,
It’s all good man, don’t get so worked up. I am from Omaha and I have never liked anything Creighton. Probably since they have only been good for the last 10 years. I am more Husker than anything. If you like Creighton it’s fine. You could like whoever. Sorry if you were taking this the wrong way. And as far as a signature win, that would not come over Creighton. That would be for someone along the likes of a Florida, spanking Kansas, Duke, Georgetown, Villinova, UCONN, UCLA, Arizona, but NOT Creighton.
November 22nd, 2007 at 11:06 am
@Husker Brad
Excellent point on the signature win. A Big XII school does not get props for beating a mid major.
November 22nd, 2007 at 11:33 am
@ Husker Brad
I’m not upset at all. I actually thought you guys were the ones taking this the wrong way and getting mad. Anyhow, I know you might not think beating Creighton is a “signiture” win because they’re a mid-major, but you have to admit that beating Creighton would be big for this years Nebraska basketball team. It might not be “signiture” but beating a rival and a team that has been somewhat dominant in this series in recent years would be a “very nice” win. Yeah, Creighton isn’t Duke or UCONN but they are a good, well-coached basketball team. Whoever wins on Saturday will get “nice” wins. It won’t be quite a “signiture” win but it will be a good boost for the future.
November 22nd, 2007 at 6:08 pm
All I have to say about all this is…….You guy’s do know that there is still football on right?
November 22nd, 2007 at 6:22 pm
Great Pete, I am glad to hear it!!!! I still think Nebraska’s woes will lie within conference. Last year they were very streaky, on again, off again. They do play hard every game and with there talent coming up to par, they should get a better result this year. My prediction is after 31 regular season games they will be 22-9.
November 22nd, 2007 at 7:39 pm
Hope you all enjoy the game on TV tomorrow, Husker Brad and I have to resort to headphones at work …. I just wanted to see calahan walk out with the huskers for the LAST TIME!!!!!!! Woo!!
November 22nd, 2007 at 7:52 pm
This doesnt have to do with anything on topic but I have a source inside the Athletic Department and I mean its realiable. The word is from him that the Huskers will be wearing all white uniforms tommorow and will run the spread offense. I dont know if this will actually happen but my source is no bull-shitter. We’ll have to wait and see. GO HUSKERS!!!
November 22nd, 2007 at 10:01 pm
@DT
Enjoy work sucker, I will be at home!!!
November 22nd, 2007 at 10:02 pm
ALL WHITE? They haven’t done that for awhile. AWESOME. Just once I would like to see all red!!!
November 22nd, 2007 at 10:07 pm
Yea, I don’t recall the exact game that it was, but I beleive we got our butt’s handed to us. I didn’t figure we would see them again.
November 22nd, 2007 at 10:20 pm
I just read somewhere that they did it in the 2002 season…they year they tweaked the uni’s alittle bit. They wore white on white all season…well when they would wear there away jerseys. I also read they wore red on red once in 86′ against Oklahoma. People said it looked funny but I would like to see it once.
November 22nd, 2007 at 11:05 pm
Here ya go HB! Here is some video from the 1986 NU vs OU game if anybody wants to see what all red looks like.

Holy Hell I was right! The spread! The all-white! Go get ‘em Huskers!
November 23rd, 2007 at 1:26 pm
good call Pete!! What does your source say about PELINI!!!?
November 23rd, 2007 at 1:35 pm
He will not tell us who will be coach but does say there is absolutley no chance we keep BC.
November 23rd, 2007 at 6:14 pm
I’ll settle for that!
