Personally, I could care less what words BC utters. But for the sake of discussion, let’s examine his lastest arguements.
According to Lincoln Journal Star, BC sustained one of his best an offensive drives of the season today.
About resigning, he said: “No, I’m committed. I said I want to be here. I want to be here. I signed an extension to be here … No, (resigning is) not an option.”
Surely, one broadcaster questioned — with the season’s results, the firing of Steve Pederson, and a book coming out that alleges Callahan said unkind things about Tom Osborne — the coach must wonder if he’s the right man for the job.
“I don’t acknowledge that book at all. All I would tell you is … I’ve done an excellent job in every area. It’s hard for the media to know, but what we’ve done off the field, and what we’ve done on the field. I think it’s well-documented,” Callahan said.
Well, BC’s right about one thing. His horrible performance on the field is indeed well documented.

I don’t even know what to say any more! We all hate the coach’s, we have fans and players yelling at each other, people booing, people leaving at half time. Pride is gone, Tradition is gone, Having a blackshirt just means you have something extra to wipe your sweat on.
I could go on and on, but what’s the point? Steve Warren said at some point you have to hold the players accountable to, I think I’m starting to agree with him.

I forgot one thing, I’m kinda hoping that before the game starts this weekend the Husker and Longhorn players get in a fight on the 50 yard line.
That would be perfect!

Wondering what exactly “It” is that the media doesn’t know about but is well documented. If Callahan doesn’t want to resign made him head coach of the ball bag till 2012.

You know, I truly believe this could all have been different IF Bill Callahan would have started to show a little emotion and make it seem like he really truly cares about all the crap he has laid upon HUSKER NATION. From broken records, mediocrity, “coachspeak”, to all the things BC has said over the years that goes against everything that it means to be a Husker! All we are asking for is a little honesty and maybe pride! Call out some people, don’t just generalize. I believe you have done some good things. Outside of Mo Purify no one has really been in trouble in his 4 years. I know there is the thing with Keller and Hickman, but they were minor. Everyone seems to be going to class and doing what they are supposed to be doing. But when everyone else can see your problems, don’t dismiss us as “not knowledgeable or privy to what goes on inside”. If you have some coaches that are your friends, they will respect you more if you let them know they are not getting it done, and you are here to help ( aren’t you? ). Make your system fit your players, not the other way around! Remember Joe Daily? I think he would have been a decent option QB, but no, Billy C just asked him to close his eyes and throw it as far as you can! We are not dumb asses, and if we can see the problems you, as the leader, should be able to see, correct, and acknowledge these deficincies. We need the UNITY COUNCIL back, or something like it. Players need to know they are accountable for their actions, and they let down themselves, their team, the university, the fans, and “THE PROGRAM”!!!! We have to ask ourselves, do we get upset about losing 5-10 recruits who haven’t played a down in college ball, or risk losing our entire roster to this rediculous philosophy we have now? Players that should be playing are not. The ones that play (Purify) are not getting what they should be getting. Callahan had a huge opportunity to embrace Nebraska and all of it’s traditions after the PEEdersen firing, yet he still is sticking to his guns aka his hilarious press conferences where he blames the players and all the distractions! He should give all the OC duties to Watson and focus on unifying this team, as well as, making the defense more aggresive and assignment alert! If you are so great at watching film, then why can’t you see certain players getting beat over and over again, your defense not set when the offense is taking it’s snap, and players drifting further and further away from your leadership. You have 105 players so play some!!! Don’t do it because your backed into a corner and are trying to cover your behind!! Don’t blame anyone else but yourself. The buck stops at you, Callahan! I feel real sorry for the players you have brought in with the promise of something great when they could have gone wherever they wanted to. All I can say is I hope those kids get to experience that with the next coaching staff. They deserve that!!!!

I just read the article in full and I do understand what Billy C. is saying. It does have to be disappointing to them, as a staff. But, like I said, he needs to realize this is not the NFL. He needs a system to work for these kids, not vice versa. He needs to constantly review coaches, coaching philosophy and how they apply that with these kids. This guy is just dead wrong over 50% of the time. Shawn Watson gained 292 yards calling the plays in the 1st half. Billy C gained 113 when he took over. That should tell you something.

BC–>”In my heart of hearts I know I’m doing an excellent job in every area”. What better example can there be of why this coach needs to go? How in the world can you be successful if you can’t even identify that your not successful?? The Huskers will NEVER be a successful team with this guy as head coach.

BC has a 4-4 record this year, he has lost his last 3 games in a row, since when does a .500 win percentage define success at Nebraska, or any school??

ill gim bc credit, he and his staff can recruit, but thats it. at least the new coach will have a closet full of talent to work with. talent wise, this team is probably gonna be the best 4-8 team in the country. sad for the players and the seniors, they deserve better than this.

@Aaron
Who says they can recruit? Rivals, scout.com? These guys are overhyped on their recruiting prowess!!! You see what is happening with “his” super recruiting class!!!
October 25th, 2007 at 9:31 am
Brad-
What you are referring to is player development not recruitment. These guys are good recruiters based on the players they sign, it hasn’t shown up on the field where development comes in. Development is why the class hasn’t lived up to the hype, which is sad because the players are truly good too.

But if you listen to any football player that is worth a crap, they will tell you that stars don’t mean anything! Some of the best players ever didn’t even have one star. There are a lot of things that look good on paper. So who is to say we have talent on the side lines? If talent has anything to do with heart, we don’t have any!
