*RUMOR: WHAT FOLLOWS IS 100% UNCONFIRMED AT THIS TIME.
I AM NOW DISMISSING THIS AS RUMOR. DO NOT QUOTE AS FACT*
I started picking up some strong chatter about an hour ago and in the last 20 minutes have received a few emails from trusted sources that changes to the Nebraska Football program did not stop yesterday.
Again, this is unconfirmed rumor MOST LIKELY 100% RUMOR at this point but in a nutshell,
Bill Callahan has been fired today.
Kevin Cosgrove has been fired today.
Phil Elmassian has been fired today.
Shawn Watson will take over play calling duties.
Bill Busch will take over as interim Defensive Coordinator
Charlie McBride will take over as interim Head Coach, to server no longer than the end of this season.
An official statement could come as early as 3:00 pm CST, with a press conference to follow at 5:15 pm CST.
Update:
If you have anything to add that could confirm or deny this, please let me know via the comments, or my email is now linked on the homepage.
Update: 3:15 pm CST
I am now giving this less than a 5% chance of being accurate.
I have been unable to make any headway towards confirming this rumor, other than continually following trails back to message boards. Again, if you have anything to add that could confirm or deny this, please let me know via the comments, or my email is now linked on the homepage.

The words “poetic justice” are ringing in my head.
The man who stood by silently while all that he helped create was rudely destroyed is now in a position to rectify matters, and he wastes no time at all in doing so. If only the U.S. Congress was this efficient.
Go Big Red.

If its true and I’m McBride I’m telling the starters they have a 1/4 to prove they want to play football or they are on the bench! Think of how much motivation there would be for a kid whos been riding the pine all season to come in and make an impact. He could then say he was part of the wave that helped bring the Huskers back to respectabilty!!!

This is a rumor started by someone in the athletic office. They wanted to see how far it went.

@Wrong -
Part of me wondered about that being the source. Maybe give a few different versions to different staffers and then find the leaks…
Though, there may be more info floating around that hasn’t been published *grin*

I think we all know it’s going to happen. “When?” is the only question.

I think we need to keep in mind who is running things now. The main reason TO was brought back in was so that everyone could unite and we would all know where we stand. TO does not mix words, mislead, or intentionally tell untruths. TO said yesterday no coaching changes would be made till the end of the year, and, I am pretty sure this is something we can take to the bank…
After the season’s over , then watch out.

I started going to games with my dad when I was 7 years old. I saw my first game in 1970. I saw Vince Ferragamo throw the longest pass I can remember at Memorial Stadium. I was in the endzone seats with my fraternity when Mike Rozier made his 7 yard run for TD that lasted forever and Turner Gill was the quarterback; “The Scoring Explosion” they were called on Sports Illustrated. During all that time, the team was under the watch and guidance of Dr. Tom. Under all those years that I remember, Dr. Tom was a man of honor, patience, integrity and honesty. He is back now, at least for the time being, and I have faith he will do whats right and when its right for the program. As much as I want to see Callahan go, I dont think it will be until regular season is over. I believe Dr. Tom will be true to his word as he has been for so many years, that is what makes Dr. Tom an institute. This season has been painful, but its easier to tolerate knowing that Dr. Tom is steering the boat. I wish the rumors were true, but I am highly doubtful.

The Colorado game was a embarassment to all Nebraskans. Fire Callahan if he doesn’t agree to fire the whole defensive staff? How do you gain 400 yards in one half and barely half the in second half. Callahan doesn’t know how to counteract adjustments by the opposition. This has been his problem since he took the job. He has NO! feel for the game or going by his guts. He is too textbook.
