Return To Greatness Will Not Be Easy

“Sports Nightly” on Husker Sports Network (which I’m listening to now via these very intertubes) has Barry Switzer on. BS says we don’t have the players Tom Osborne had. That he (Switzer) can recognize ability, speed, etc. and he doesn’t see it on our team. His point is we have a long road in front of us.

We might have a long road ahead of us, as far as returning the Nebraska football program close to where it once was, BUT – this road is now much shorter with T.O. back in the program.

The news stations on TV wouldn’t have spent the first half of the six o’clock news talking about Osborne coming back to Nebraska if it wasn’t a big deal. Huge deal.

He might not be on the field coaching, but he has definitely lifted the morale of the entire Husker Nation.

I think we are fine talent-wise. Low morale, bad coaching makes things look worse than they are.

Outside of those, you could make an argument that lack of depth may be an issue as well – something that I believe TO made a point with during his press conference opening statements.
