Craig Wants To Taste Trojan Blood

Husker and 49ers great Roger Craig sees big things in the Nebraska’s future. Speaking in Scotts Bluff last weekend Craig said:
I think this is their breakout year. This year they will break into the Top 10 because I think they have the tools, and the coaches understand how to teach the West Coast offense to the players. That takes a lot of time to learn the West Coast offense. Now that they are comfortable and they know what they need, they are going to do some big things this year. They are going to upset USC, and I can’t wait. I will be at that game. It’s the third game of the season, and we are going to upset those boys. Mark my words.

I agree. We will get a taste of Trojan Blood. I feel we have all the tools needed to beat them. If the crowd gets into it and we have the momentum on our side i believe we can beat the Trojans. No, We WILL beat the Trojans!

As I touched upon in April, the game in our home Lincoln backyard vs an established elite & powerful program like USC, gives us a great opportunity to pull off a major victory in the spotlight and in front of a national audience. NU will instantly vault into the Top 10 (or higher?) wityh a win here. However, as was also pointed out, I hope that Callahan and the coaching staff (we will definitely miss Jay Norvell this year, and others) let our guys play and don’t over-coach with unnecessary gabling and mistakes like the fake punt in the Cotton Bowl, when we clearly out-played a high-ranked opponent. Plus I hope that we don’t take our first 2 games lightly, either. We can’t afford to be over-confident vs Nevada or Wake Forest on the road, both those teams are a lot better than our usual first 2 home lay-ups in September. A slip-up in Gme 1 or 2 would also take away from a Game upset 3 vs USC, which we definitely have a shot at…let our Huskers play, BC!
