Please tell me when the insanity is over, BC & Coz have got to go!!! The WCO isn’t even close to what these guys are doing. Tonight it was Hail Mary that kept it close. Defensively the team just looked pathetic. LB’s ?? to busy helping the secondary OOPS no secondary’ sorry. D-line out toughed by KU’s line. We will be lucky to get by Colorado let alone the rest of the Big 12 pack. We are at least seven years out from being a dominate team(New coach, New System, New Recuirts) BRING BACK THE OPTION!!! We are the Midwest-not the East or the West!! I’ll always love the BIG RED but its getting tough to continue donations!!
Yeah, I mean I know that “the option” can’t survive and it was quite nice to see those huge pass plays… but is this how the rest of the country plays football? I agree… seeing those Rozier clips of “the option” did make me long for days of old. Since we got Peterson-ized I guess this is what we have to look forward to… no more options… just hope that we can get by. Just remember, Nebraska is a “Red” state and “we don’t know what we are doing” so this West coast offensiveness is what is best… dumb rednecks can’t be expected to run an offense or the country. Go Huskers!
I am getting tired of everyone just being content with wins. It seems like everytime another “W” goes on the board, it totally overshadows the fact that we have many problems yet to be solved. I am Huksers to the bone but I would say “Whoever picked Nebraska to win the Big 12 North “HANDS DOWN” was on something good.” I agree Callahan needs to go somewhere else. Besides the fact that we should not be running the WCO, I don’t think he would have the brains to coach it if we could. I read in the paper that the reason we didn’t pass on USC anymore than we did was because he did not want to get into a shootout with USC. My suggestion is this, If you are that scared of them, DON”T GO PLAY THEM!! I don’t quite understand what it is Peterson is trying to accomplish but I think the HUSKER NATION will be soon to grow tired of this kind of results.
Agreed Jon… a Win is a Win… is fine… and maybe I’m just spoiled as well…
I just don’t understand how people think that Nebraska can compete for recruits for a WCO the same as say a Cal or Florida school. What made NE great was being able to turn walk-on players into College stars. The WCO just seems short sited and I truly believe that Pederson is just trying to do at NE what he did at Penn… and that’s build a new stadium that will allow more locals to watch the same dribble you can see at countless stadiums on any given Saturday. He’s trying to do to NE what is known in real-estate as “flipping.” Don’t try and “flip” tradition you goober.
Besides the fact that he bold face lied to every fan in the state!
Something still can’t understand how fans just ignored or forgive… it makes me question the true integrity that I think is the core of NE fans.
He is like every CEO that comes in and thinks his track record will allow him to shake things up and make big noise. Fire a bunch of people… make things look far worse than they are… and then hire some hot shot talent and after 2 good quarters run away.
The problem? Big noise wasn’t needed. Nebraska fans are some of the smarts in the nation… not to mention… just the smartest PEOPLE in the nation… trust a west coaster!!!!
Lying to fans wasn’t warranted… building more seating in the stadium was a project in insecurity and possible male compensation of the AD.
When I think or the legacy of Nebraska I think of integrity and strength of program… when I think of the legacy of USC I think of… oh… they haven’t built a legacy.
Yes, I think Mr. Osborne knew how to coach college football, because he knew that first and foremost you have to focus on building men… you do that and the success will come in every other area of life… we just got to see that in College Football titles.
Red must remember… just because the country thinks you are a bunch of uneducated hicks, doesn’t mean you have to act like it and become a bunch of opportunistic short sided greedy sports fans.
Nobody ever talks about how great USC fans when they are on National TV… why do you think that is?
How about some respect for Kansas? They played us tough and clearly believed they could and would win. Welcome to the Big 12 today, where parity is king, not the Huskers. I miss the Big 8 and Husker dominance as much as they next guy, but that’s not where the game is right now. Callahan is a coach who took his team to the Superbowl. And now he’s trying hard to bring our program into the 21st century. If things go our way over the next two months, we may only lose one more game this season. Will 10-2 in the regualr season satisfy you?
Callahan didn’t take his team to the Superbowl, He walked along side Jon Grudan’s team as they went and Played in the Superbowl. If he did so great as a pro football coach, why did he so easily come to Nebraska to coach? The answer, because everyone on the Raider’s team hated him. It wasn’t just more money that made the desicion easy. And yes, 10-2 would satisy me, but weren’t we getting those kind of results with Franky Baby. For some reason it wasn’t good enough when he did it, but some clown from the pros can come in a totally screw up the program and that is OK becasue of one simple reason, “He took a team to the Superbowl.” The problem is this, Back when the Huskers dominated, 3/4 of the team was from somewhere in Nebraska. Along with that came a lot of pride. I remember my friends in high school that played football, there dream was to play football for the Huskers, not to go pro and make millions. Now look at the team and tell me where the majority of the players are from. I understand that we still have some Nebraskans on the team but not near as many as we should. The fact of the matter is, a football player from say California, Florida, Texas…They don’t care on bit about “NEBRASKA PRIDE” hell they don’t even understand what it is all about. They only came to Nebraska for one reason, to get noticed at a program, which by the way couldn’t be getting more attention right now, and get paid lots of money to play pro football some day. My belief is this, instead of changing the kind of football we play at Nebraska and having to recruit aliens to run our team, lets find a coach who can coach the kind of football that Nebraska boys play…..Oh Yah…They fired all of those ones!! I’ll be a Husker fan no matter what, it just saddens me to no end to see how quickly Pederson Stripped a football program of the strongest pride in the world. Keep in mind…all of this is merely my opinion.
You make some good points, Jon. Thanks. But we’ve always had great players from out of state and we always will. And I think the majority of them do “get Nebraska,” or they wouldn’t come, nor would they last and make significant contributions. From a recruiting perspective, we need to be able to attract any player in any market. I personally believe Callahan can deliver that. It’s year three and if he goes 10-2 this year, we can push for 11-1 next year and 12-0 the following year.
I still say to the highschool guy in Florida or Texas… hmmm… west coast off in Nebraska, Florida or Southern Cal… hmmm… It doesn’t snow in two out of the three. Hmm… how dumb do they think I am?
