Air Sadler
Nebraska’s new head basketball coach, Kenneth “Doc” Sadler, made some important moves off the court this week. According to News Net Nebraska, Sadler flew 8700 miles to Australia, where 6-foot-11 center, Aleks Maric, was practicing with the national team.

Days later, Sadler went to Brooklyn, NY for a visit with starting guard Jamel White and his mother.
Sadler convinced White and Maric, both starters, to return to the basketball team.
Sadler comes to Nebraska from Texas-El Paso, where he had a 48-18 record with two postseason tournament appearances in two seasons. Nebraska has not reached the NCAA tournament since 1998, when it was coached by Danny Nee.

Keller is a Husker
ESPN.com is reporting that former ASU quarterback Sam Keller has enrolled at the University of Nebraska.
Former Arizona State quarterback Sam Keller has enrolled at the University of Nebraska, a spokeswoman in the registrar and records office at the school told ESPN’s Joe Schad on Wednesday morning.
Keller is expected to redshirt at Nebraska this season and be eligible to play his final season next year, likely succeeding Zac Taylor as starting quarterback.
Keller, who was named the Sun Devils’ starting quarterback on Friday only to lose the job to sophomore Rudy Carpenter two days later, had also considered transferring to Louisville or UTEP, not Colorado or Oklahoma, as reported elsewhere, a source told Schad.
Mike Keller, the quarterback’s father, is a former professional football player and knows Nebraska coach Bill Callahan. Keller would have one season of eligibility left.
Keller, who started seven games for Arizona State last season before breaking his thumb, would have to sit out this coming season under NCAA transfer rules if he decides to leave the Sun Devils for another Division I-A program. He would have one season of eligibility remaining in 2007.
Keller was one of the top-rated passers in Division I-A in 2005 before he was hurt, completing 58 percent of his passes (155-for-264) for 2,165 yards with 20 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Goodbye: Leon Jackson
As some have said, the hemorraging continues with Thursday’s news that I-Back Leon Jackson has left the Huskers.
While he is the 5th highly touted recruict from 2005’s class, the Husker’s do not seem to have lost much with Jackson who was rumored be hovering around the bottom of the depth chart (as was Beck, if message board speculation is to be believed).
As long as our recruiting strength hovers around the levels of the past couple of years, the loss of future ’stars’ shouldn’t impact Nebraska negatively. One of the side-effects of recruiting top prospects is that some will eventually leave before they have a chance to show their skills – something the Huskers haven’t had to deal with on a regular basis in years past.
