In the North, everything is in line with the typical preseason media poll which is heavily based on last year’s result and not too forward looking. Being the Husker fans we are, we expect a better showing through the year, but you do have to give a hand to Buff’s coach Gary Barnett and the way he managed to coach his way through the scandals that plagued Colorado in 2004. If it were up to us, we’d swap Iowa State and Nebraska’s position, drop Mizzou to 6th and bump up K-State and Kansas.
In the South, the only surprise to us was the disparity of first place votes between Texas and Oklahoma. We also see Oklahoma State being a bit stronger than represented, likely finishing either 3rd or 4th.
